This study investigates service-learning experiences for university students in a teacher certification program, explored through the lens of sociocultural theory. Data was collected from pre-service teachers (PST) involved in service learning conducted virtually using Zoom with Vietnamese pre-service teachers. Data was in the form of surveys, which included short reflections and yes/no responses. Findings show that the service-learning program allowed PST to have the opportunity to apply the strategies learned in their coursework with ELs and increased their sense of preparation as a result. This paper presents a comprehensive synthesis of research, policy analysis, and practice-based case studies to reimagine civic education for the 21st century. Drawing on core scholarship supplemented with additional peer-reviewed studies on school segregation, charter school demographics, and race-conscious student assignment policies, the study examines the historical evolution of civic education, structural inequities, political avoidance, and promising innovations. TOEFL Prediction is widely used in Indonesian higher education as a preparatory tool, yet students’ perceptions of the TOEFL test remain rarely explored. This qualitative case study involved ten English Education students (batch 2021) at UIN Datokarama Palu. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and document analysis, then analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model. Four indicators emerged: readiness and confidence, test-taking experience, motivation, and perceived fairness. Students valued TOEFL Prediction as a diagnostic tool, but faced challenges such as anxiety, technical issues, and limited vocabulary. TOEFL Prediction functions both as formative assessment and a motivational catalyst for learning.

In the 21st‐century digital era, education faces challenges in integrating innovative technologies with relevant curricula, particularly in elementary‐level cultural diversity learning that still relies on traditional methods and lacks engaging media. This study analyzes the effectiveness of integrating Project‐Based Learning (PjBL) with TikTok videos to enhance primary students’ understanding of cultural diversity through a comprehensive systematic literature review. Keyword searches in Google Scholar, Scopus, the Indonesian Publication Index, and university journal portals yielded 48 articles, of which 25 met inclusion criteria—15 quasi‐experimental studies, 6 descriptive studies, and 4 meta‐analyses (14 national, 11 international).
