The study was made in an effort to tabulate all of the phonics and structural analysis skills presented in the SRA Reading Laboratory IIIa as to the various kinds offered; frequency of use; methods of presentation. Also, extensive research was attempted to ascertain leading reading authorities' opinions on the use of these analyses for secondary students. The purpose of the study was to determine whether the SRA Reading Laboratory IIIa would be the best material to use for the retarded and disabled readers at the secondary level.

The Purpose of this study was to incorporate the principles of divergent thinking into procedures structural fora fifth grade social studies class. In order to accomplish this purpose it was necessary:
1. To establish the relationship of divergent thinking to other intellectual factors.
2. To clarify the behavioral objectives relating to divergent thinking.
3. To design procedures that would meet these objectives at various task levels.

It is difficult to discover any activity, whether in school, business or daily living that does not require reading. The importance of reading becomes even more obvious when we consider what happens to those who fail to learn to read. They are handicapped in practically all walks of life.
