The purposes of this study were to evaluate the effectiveness of point-of-view (POV) video modeling in teaching culinary skills to elementary students with developmental and cognitive disabilities, compare when the video contains narration versus sound indicators, and to evaluate students' maintenance of gained skills without watching the video. A total of 8 students in grades 3-5 with an age range from 8-11 participated in the study. A single subject research design with ABCD phases was used in this study (Phase A baseline, Phase B and C intervention, and Phase D maintenance). The purpose of the study was to examine if Solve It! instruction, a cognitive based strategy instruction program, along with a graphic organizer would increase students understanding of mathematical word problems in the high school classroom setting. The study implemented a pretest-posttest design. There were sixteen participants in the intervention group as well as sixteen students in the control group. The study took place in four different resource mathematics classrooms. The independent variable was a modified version of Solve It! instruction while the dependent variable was a curriculum-based measurement created by the intervention and control group teachers. In this intervention study, I engaged principles of culturally responsive research to examine the effectiveness of explicit reading comprehension strategy instruction for English Learners (ELs) with specific learning disabilities (SLD). This study replicated and extended previous research (Jitendra, Hoppes, & Xin, 2000) by modifying instruction found to be effective for native English speakers (i.e., explicit reading comprehension strategy instruction with a self-monitoring procedure). Modifications included: (a) integrating culturally relevant text, (b) providing native language support, and (c) melding strategies from the fields of teaching English as a second language and special education. The purpose of this study was to examine if English language learners (ELLs) would increase their vocabulary scores in the areas of word recognition, word meaning, and word application when iPads were used during vocabulary instruction. Five at risk third graders enrolled in the school's ELL program participated in the study. All students demonstrated weak English vocabulary skills in the tests during the baseline. During the intervention, 36 vocabulary words selected from the 3rd grade's Dolch word list were taught using flashcards and practiced using the iPad application: Learning Touch Sight Words Pro. Schema-based instruction is an intervention used to help these students increase their word problem solving performance. This study involves three 9^th grade students (1 female and 2 male) who attended a public high school in the southeastern part of the United States. Surveys were distributed to all teachers within a pre-kindergarten through sixth grade district in rural Southern New Jersey. The purpose of this study was to investigate the peer-led intervention, “Stay, Play, Talk” on three target social skills with elementary aged children with autism. The target skills are as follows: 1) initiating a greeting by either waving or saying, “hi”; 2) waiting his/her turn while playing a structured game/activity; and 3) staying close to a peer during a 10 minute free play period. This study examines the barriers and facilitators of community based vocational instruction (CBVI) for students with moderate to significant disabilities as identified by special educators. Community based vocational instruction (CBVI) involves students with disabilities receiving repeated instruction on vocational and other job related skills in community settings (Kim & Dymond, 2010). An electronic survey was sent to high school and transition special education teachers from four states including Utah, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and Colorado. This quantitative study surveyed 224 general education, 37 mild/moderate special education, 10 severe special education, 28 alternative high general educators, 5 alternative high special educators, 3 transition special educators’ mild/moderate, and 8 special education severe teachers in a suburban school district in the western US. There is an unprecedented increase of rare low-incident severe disabilities in today's classroom. Some of them pose classroom management challenges due to concomitantly appearing behavior challenges. Landau Kleffner Syndrome is one such disability. It was cited for the first time in 1957 (Zhang, & Gregory, 2010) and is characterized by a typical language and cognitive growth that retrogresses after three to nine years of age (O'Hare, 2008). S. students in a representative sampling during 2010 (grades 8 and 12) scored only at the Basic (fractional grasp of prerequisite information and abilities) level and below (U.S. Department of Education, 2011).

The purpose of this study was to assess the effects of a standard protocol supplemental expository text structure intervention (i.e., Structures) on 45 4^th and 5^th graders experiencing reading difficulties. Students were enrolled in six K-8 parochial schools located in a Midwestern suburban city. Within classrooms, students were randomly assigned to Structures intervention or a business-as-usual control condition.
