The purpose of this study is to determine the test-retest reliability and standard error of measurement of the Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test (PPVT) based on a sample of fourth-grade public school children.

The PPVT is a test designed to provide a stand­ardized estimate of a person's verbal intelligence through measuring his receptive vocabulary. The PPVT is a frequently used test in the appraisal and evaluation of children ln the state of New Mexico and the Albuquerque Public School System. The PPVT was standardized on a sample of white children from Nashville, Tennessee. No cultural, socio-economic or geographic precautions were used …

The purpose of this study was to investigate certain differences or similarities that exist between students presently attending a progressive school in Albuquerque, New Mexico; and students who have traditional high schools in Albuquerque, New Mexico; and students who have applied to attend Freedom High School. The latter group was comprised of students presently attending conventional high schools and former students who had already dropped out of school and were not currently engaged in a formal educational experience.

This study investigated and evaluated the social and occupational adjustment status of individuals previously labeled as educable mentally retarded (EMR) who had graduated during the past decade from the Albuquerque Public Schools' (APS) Special Education program. The study also attempted to determine if this population was still functioning at a subaverage intellectual level previously determined by an individual test of intelligence which was the primary basis for their placement in an EMR class.

Statement of the Problem

The purpose of the investigation was to examine the effectiveness of a learning theory approach to group counseling with fifth grade "problem" students. The study was designed to determine whether group counseling using the Winning Game Approach would decrease disruptive classroom behavior.

Procedures

The subjects for the study consisted of eighteen fifth grade students. Twelve of the students were identified by their teachers as having the most difficulty adapting to the classroom setting. Six of the students were identified by their-teachers as having adjusted well to the classroom setting.

The present study was designed to investigate whether the mothers of a group of Mongoloid children, defined as High-functioning children, would demonstrate an attitude of greater overprotection on the Parental Attitude Research Instrument than a group of mothers whose Mongoloid children were defined as Low-functioning.

The basic proposition that systematic associations exist between vocational aspirations and vocational values was amply supported by this investigation. Fundamental dimensions, syntheses of various of these associations, were found to describe and to differentiate between basic types of vocational identity. A model, also formulated as a synthesis of several findings, revealed a generalized pattern of relationships among vocational fields.
