Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
The major reason for this survey was to secure definite facts and opinions from superintendents, principals and teachers in elementary and secondary schools on the subject of handwriting. The information gathered gives conclusive evidence that these groups recognize the need for more and better training in this fundamental subject.
The aim of the writer was to determine:
- The extent to which outlined courses of study in handwriting are followed.
- The number of special instructors in handwriting, whether part- or full-time and other subjects they teach.
- Whether handwriting is taught incidentally with other subjects with no formal lessons, or as a …
Typewriting, Shorthand, Business Correspondence, & Office Training In Secondary Schools & The Need For Correlation, Fannie Harrington
Typewriting, Shorthand, Business Correspondence, & Office Training In Secondary Schools & The Need For Correlation, Fannie Harrington
Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
It is the purpose of this thesis to show the need for correlation of these subjects because they are so closely related. It may also bring about an awakening of commercial educators to the many things a typewriting teacher must teach and that other subjects are repetitions to a large degree of what the student has already been taught in typewriting.
Tests & Study Guides In Literature For Secondary Schools, Ida Nance
Tests & Study Guides In Literature For Secondary Schools, Ida Nance
Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
When the time came to choose a thesis subject, I immediately said Objective Tests Applicable to Collateral Reading. Having been told "nothing has been done along that line - almost nothing at all," I decided to extend my investigations to include any and all tests in high-school literature - tests for comprehension and appreciation, survey and achievement tests, and tests designed for collateral reading. Each phase of the study has been interesting, but I fear that I have remained somewhat partial to the unit first begun and have perhaps given it a bit more consideration than the other divisions have …

Is Formal Grammar Necessary In The High School?, Edward Ray
Is Formal Grammar Necessary In The High School?, Edward Ray
Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
This study does not attempt to decide which is the better method of presenting grammar to the high school pupil; that is a question which would require much more extensive research to answer. We are interested primarily in determining and evaluating the success in college formal grammar of students who have had formal grammar in high school as compared with the success of those who have not had high school formal grammar. The study, therefore, is an attempt to show the differences existing in preparation for college formal grammar on the part of the students who have had high school …
Is High School Chemistry A Preparation For College Chemistry, Mansfield Martin
Is High School Chemistry A Preparation For College Chemistry, Mansfield Martin
Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
The subject of this study grew out of a desire to estimate the value of high school chemistry and its relation to college chemistry. The purpose is to bring about a better understanding of the necessity of a closer tie-up between different levels of our educational system. Life and growth are continuous processes, and, if education if life, we must make it a continuous experience. While limited because of incomplete records and changing classifications of our high schools, it is hoped that this study will lead to a further and more scientific study of related problems in this field.
