Clippers and cops is an organization I (Detective Tyrone Dennis) started in March of 2018 where APD officers actually go into our own communities to speak to civilians about our own experiences; good and bad.

Meeting at local barber shops, Rec centers, to local restaurants, “Clippers and cops” is a relaxed round table discussion that gives every day people a neutral and safe platform for their voices to be heard without judgement, And a place to have an open dialogue about the adversity and hot button issues that have caused such disparity between these 2 conflicting worlds.

Choice and Consequences: A Mind is a Terrible Thing to Waste is a presentation that highlights the functionalities of the human brain. Through our presentation attendees will be able to identify the four main components of the human brain that control our emotions and behaviors. We will provide evaluation-based techniques to strengthen self-awareness. It is our goal that attendees will grasp scientific information of the human brain as well as learn a new skill set to improve social emotional learning and restorative practices in order to deescalate conflicts.

As society has moved online, prison education has significantly lagged behind, hampering efforts to prepare released prisoners for work, education, and life outside a prison cell. Prisons have lacked the technology and educational programming to ready inmates for reintroduction into a digital society. This paper explores the benefits and challenges of eLearning in prisons and the role simulations could play in reducing recidivism and preparing released inmates for a technology-driven world.
