“I Can Tell It’S Fake”: What Generation Alpha Is Telling Us About Ai And 5 Tips For Educators, Charlotte Jones-Roberts
FDLA Journal
Institutional responses to generative artificial intelligence (AI) in higher education have largely emphasized detection, surveillance, and academic integrity enforcement. These approaches often assume that students lack the ability to recognize AI-generated content or are predisposed to misuse it. However, emerging classroom observations and generational research suggest that members of Generation Alpha (Gen Alpha) demonstrate intuitive forms of AI literacy grounded in authenticity detection, ethical awareness, and skepticism toward low-effort outputs. Drawing on student discourse, research on authentic assessment, digital citizenship, and self-regulated learning, this conceptual analysis reframes AI pedagogy from a detection problem to a design challenge. Five recurring student …

Simulation-based activities can be a formative learning approach for teacher preparation programs and enhance teacher readiness. These activities provide preservice teachers with opportunities to build the necessary knowledge and skills related to classroom management in a structured and safe environment. This article assesses the benefits and challenges of incorporating Mursion, a mixed-reality simulation platform, as a tool in undergraduate teacher preparation programs. The use of Mursion aligns with Kolb’s Experiential Learning Theory (Morris, 2020) and includes concrete experiences for preservice teachers that they can reflect upon and adjust as needed. Simulation experience supports leadership development, as well as communication, emotional …

Today’s all-pervasive emergence of artificial intelligence (AI) necessitates a comprehensive evaluation of its role in education, especially for occupational disciplines in health sciences and STEM. AI has reshaped student learning and instructors’ navigation of the evolving, post coronavirus infectious disease (COVID-19) global academic landscape. This study aimed at encapsulating evidence-based AI implications for student-centered, active learning and assessment at various curricular levels of science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM) and health sciences education in developed versus underprivileged or less developed countries. An extensive, scoping review of 65 recent, scholarly publications was conducted over six months through diverse search engines (PubMed, Google …

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a form of technology that has become a significant component in all our lives, especially those of students and instructors. AI serves as an automated, robotic entity that simulates human learning; it is able to rely on basic input to generate outlines and ideas for papers meant to satisfy any academic requirement and is seen as a helpful addition to the modern classroom. However, instead of relying on AI to enhance critical analysis and ethical reasoning, this artificial language model is frequently used to complete entire academic projects with little input on the part of the …

Addressing The Absence Of Formal Curriculum In Dual Language Immersion Program, Janet Roque
FDLA Journal
This strategic research project (SRP) was designed to provide a comprehensive, actionable solution to the critical challenge of inconsistent instruction resulting from the absence of a formal, aligned curriculum within the district’s Dual Language Immersion (DLI) program. This gap had previously led to instructional variability, disparate student outcomes, and increased teacher frustration due to a lack of shared resources and pedagogical direction. The project’s central objective was to develop, implement, and evaluate a vertically and horizontally aligned DLI curriculum framework designed to ensure instructional fidelity, promote sustained academic achievement, and guarantee equitable opportunities for biliteracy development across all participating grade …

Navigating Ethical Ai Use In Online Education: Leveraging The Framework For Information Literacy For Higher Education, Grace Kaletski-Maisel
FDLA Journal
As generative AI transforms online education, students are confronted with the many ethical quandaries that this technology poses. A document known as The Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education (Framework) has great potential to serve as a tool for educators who strive to guide students towards ethical decision-making in AI use. Information literacy is “the set of integrated abilities encompassing the reflective discovery of information, the understanding of how information is produced and valued, and the use of information in creating new knowledge and participating ethically in communities of learning.” This definition was posed by the Association of College …

Purpose: To prepare students with digital competencies needed for modern clinical practice, AI should be responsibly integrated into healthcare education programs. However, concerns exist about students misusing AI for admissions statements and academic assignments. This study examined Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) students' perceptions of ChatGPT use and whether they consider its use cheating or plagiarism. Method: This retrospective multi-methods analysis compared two DPT student cohorts' online essay responses to the following questions: 1) Is using AI or specifically, ChatGPT considered cheating and/or plagiarism? and 2) What are students' opinions on ChatGPT use in the DPT curriculum? One hundred forty-seven …

The shift to remote teaching during the pandemic has influenced the way the lecturers teach English as a Second Language (ESL) at Asian universities. Studied through the lens of ethnomethodology which focuses on understanding what the lecturers do in the face of pandemic, this investigation was conducted to answer the following research questions: (1) What are the ESL teaching practices of the University lecturers during the pandemic? (2) How do these practices accomplish ESL learning among students? In this study, the teaching practices of the participants constitute the meaning that explains how learning takes place. Three lecturers from three Asian …

The Future Of Nursing Leadership: Incorporating E-Learned Artificial Intelligence (Ai) Pathways With A Precautionary Focus Of Patient-Centered-Care, Jamie Anne Marcus Dr, Bonnette Villalba Webb
FDLA Journal
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a data-driven mathematical process that incorporates machine-based-logic, usually in the form of algorithms. Education, training, and competencies are now conducted through virtual reality, robotics, simulation, and technology learning-based-platforms by healthcare organizations. This represents a significant change in the future of nursing practice. The adaptability of technology-based-learning platforms can impact the quality and efficiency of learning for some of the workforce population. Nurses' perception of technology and AI-driven nursing practice may vary based on generational orientation and can be a potential barrier to learning, practicing, and adaptability of this framework. The forging of well-trained resilient nurse leaders …

Holistic Support For Online Learners: A Framework For Mental Health Integration, Charlotte A. Jones-Roberts
FDLA Journal
The mental health crisis among college students has been well-documented, with increasing rates of anxiety, depression, and other psychological distress. Online learners, in particular, face unique challenges related to social isolation, self-regulation, and access to mental health resources. Understanding mental health in the context of online education is critical due to the unique challenges posed by virtual learning environments (Saade et al., 2017; Kumari et al., 2021). This paper explores the importance of mental health support in higher education and proposes a three-level framework for integration: university-level, LMS-level, and course-level support. By addressing common concerns and utilizing a Universal Design …
