The purpose of this phenomenological study was to add to the research regarding the expectations and experiences of Chinese students studying at an American university. In doing so, this study sought to examine newly arriving Chinese students’ expectations of what their experience would be like compared to the reality of what their experiences actually were while attending Midwestern State University (MSU). Ten participants participated in two semi-structured interviews. The first set of interviews explored what Chinese students expected their experience studying at MSU to be like. Assessing Extension Education Efforts In Afghanistan Through The Eyes Of U.S. Agricultural Support Personnel, Seburn L. Pense, John W. Groninger
Online Journal for Workforce Education and Development
Assessment of agricultural extension education efforts in Afghanistan was conducted through a qualitative case study of eight U.S. support personnel serving in the country. Security & access and provincial diversity were two overriding factors which determined how the three key attributes of assessment, content and process (Barrick et al., 2009) were able to function in an Afghan agricultural extension education program. Respondents indicated training should focus on young farmers and local farm demonstration sites should be essential program components. Respondents stressed recruitment of agents from local districts when this would not imperil the agents or their families. Respondents also insisted …

Sabbaticals
The goal of my Spring 1996 sabbatical leave was to bring international content into the courses in the Parkland College Literature Program. I undertook the following projects:
- To design an international studies concentration for students in the Liberal Arts Program
- To review and read extensively in the literature of Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East
- To develop a course in non-western world literature which would meet the nonwestern humanities requirement for the LAS degree
- To prepare bibliographic materials and identify world literature selections to use as supplementary texts in existing literature courses
