Dr. Carter G Woodson was an African American historian, author, publisher, and activist. He is known as the Father of Black History. He was the second African American to receive a doctorate from Harvard University. He was the founder of the Journal of Negro Education and the Associated Publishers. He wrote many influential books, including The History of the Negro Church and The Miseducation of the Negro. He died in Washington, DC in 1950.

Justice In Post-Conflict Societies - Comparing Bosnia & Herzegovina, Guatemala, And Argentina: College Spanish Curriculum, Eleonora Bertranou, Isabella Kurpiers

Students will explore opportunities for justice in the aftermath of crimes against humanity. The primary focus is on the impact of genocide in Guatemala, Bosnia, and Argentina, and opportunities for healing and preventing similar tragedies in the future. This unit is intended for a post-secondary college Spanish course.

This chapter will examine the development and status of school counselling in Vietnam. As part of that, we will discuss research on Vietnamese school children’s mental health and academic needs, the history of the development of school counselling and related professions in Vietnam, and the process of creating formal educational programs in school counselling. Lastly, we will discuss school counsellors’ distinct roles in Vietnam and how they relate to various stakeholders, including children, teachers, administrators, and parents. AIM: Competency frameworks are essential for analyzing capabilities of Schools of Public Health to adequately prepare public health (PH) professionals to address contemporary challenges. This study maps the competency profiles of PH training programs in Israel using a novel curriculum mapping tool.

METHODS: This study assessed all five Israeli Health Education Institutions (HEIs) offering MPH or Bachelors in Public Health (BPH) degrees across 57 competencies in six domains to determine the extent to which competencies were addressed in the curriculum. There exist many challenges concerning public health practices in the Occupied Palestinian Territories (oPt) as the Israeli occupation has created literal and metaphorical roadblocks preventing Palestinians from accessing needed health services outside their towns and villages. Trained Community Health Workers assist in bridging this crucial health service need throughout the oPt. Study Abroad Impact In The Mid-Term: Influence On Professional Development In Japan, Alex Kerns

This mixed methods research study explores the impacts of studying abroad for Japanese individuals and examines how these experiences shape their professional development in the mid-term. This research also investigates whether there are any discernible generational differences in these impacts between older millennials and younger millennials. Data collection consists of a survey with seventeen participants and in-depth interviews with four participants. The findings suggest that participants reported that studying abroad had a transformative impact on both older millennials and younger millennials through the development of skills, including cross-cultural communication, cultural competence, global understanding, and language, and had a relatively positive …

This introduction provides an overview of the articles included in this special issue. Collectively, the researchers addressed sustaining momentum for study abroad and virtual exchange in teacher education particularly around the time of the COVID-19 pandemic. The studies illustrate the value of expanding access to international experiences for teachers, both in-service and preservice, and the benefits of intercultural dialogue and reflection for teachers’ intercultural development and teaching practices.
