Estimational Abilities And Mathematics Achievement Of Seventh Graders, Mary Elizabeth Mendenhall
Estimational Abilities And Mathematics Achievement Of Seventh Graders, Mary Elizabeth Mendenhall
Theses and Dissertations
Computational estimation and mental computation are two of the most neglected areas of today's mathematical curriculum. Much has been written about these two concepts, but little instruction has been carried out in the classroom (Johnson, 1979; Reys, 1986). Freeman (cited in Reys & Bestgen, 1981) states that less than 3% of textbooks had estimation lessons. Reys (1987) found that only 4% of lessons in all fourth-grade textbooks of the early 1980's deal with estimation. Also, Buchanan (1978, p. 2) observes that: "Instruction in. estimation is not something that has been tried and failed; it has not been tried on any …
Energy Education Materials For Elementary School, Marcia Keizer Fraser
Energy Education Materials For Elementary School, Marcia Keizer Fraser
All Master's Theses
The materials created introduce intermediate elementary level children to a selected basic energy vocabulary and to concepts of energy-environment inter-relations. The approach is multi-dimensional, employing a slide tape presentation, posters, charts, and vocabulary cards. Energy concepts and vocabulary are repeated through the various media forms as a means to reinforce learning. The content tone is deliberately positive so that in the process of gaining knowledge about energy issues, children will feel successful, encouraging further achievement in the area of energy education.

Production Of A Video Tape Recorded Supplement For Use In Teaching Electrical Tuned Circuit Theory, William A. Carlson
Production Of A Video Tape Recorded Supplement For Use In Teaching Electrical Tuned Circuit Theory, William A. Carlson
All Master's Theses
This paper presents a sample of the proceedures utilized to produce a video tape recorded suppliment for use in teaching electrical tuned circuit theory. It is designed so that it could be used as a ready reference for anyone desiring to make a video tape recorded teaching aid. A recomendation is that, with the advent of the simplified video tape recorder, every teacher should become as practiced in its operation and utilization as he now is with the film projector.

Audio-Visual Aids, Manipulative Materials, And Arithmetic Achievement In Grade Four, Janice Cameron Mccolaugh
All Master's Theses
The central problem of this study was to determine whether children using an above-normal amount of audio-visual aids and manipulative materials would achieve significantly higher in arithmetic.
An Audiovisual Program: The Selection, Utilization And Evaluation Of Audiovisual Materials For The Morgan Junior High School Seventh Grade Physical Science Program, William S. Craig
All Master's Theses
Through this study the writer will attempt to: (1) identify and investigate the current standards of an effective audiovisual program; (2) identify and evaluate the rationale which can be used in determining the basis for the utilization of audiovisual materials in the field of science education; (3) use this rationale as a basis for selecting appropriate audiovisual materials for the seventh grade physical science curriculum in Morgan Junior High School; and (4) develop recommendations concerning the utilization of audiovisual materials in the science curriculum at Morgan Junior High School in Ellensburg, Washington.
