Explicit Instruction In Fitness Exercise For Pathfit Ii (Physical Activities Towards Health And Fitness), Laarni Velez
Explicit Instruction In Fitness Exercise For Pathfit Ii (Physical Activities Towards Health And Fitness), Laarni Velez
Indonesian Journal of Research in Physical Education, Sport, and Health
Explicit instruction is a purposeful way of overtly teaching students. Explicit in this case, means a clear-cut and finite method of teaching that includes both teaching and delivery procedures. Using this learning, the students perform the skills of the different fitness exercises through practical demonstration with clear and specific instruction. The teachers would tell the students using direct instructions to demonstrate the skills, respectively. Thus, this research determined the efficacy of explicit instruction in fitness exercises for pathfit II at Biliran Province State University – Main, Naval, Biliran during the academic year 2021 – 2022, as basis for enhancement activities. …

Effectiveness Of Learning Time For Physical Education Sports And Health At Senior High School 10 Malang, Prawira Adityamawardhana Putra, Mashuri Eko Winarno
Indonesian Journal of Research in Physical Education, Sport, and Health
This study aims to determine the effectiveness of learning hours for physical education, sports, and health at Senior High School 10 Malang by using quantitative and qualitative descriptive methods. Data collection was carried out by researchers through observation and documentation techniques. The results showed that PJOK learning time was not effective at Senior High School 10 Malang, with an average time of 68 minutes as a percentage of the total time of 76%. However, the average pre-activity duration was 7 minutes (8%), the average duration of the core activities was 55 minutes (61%), and the average duration of the final …

The Real-Time Classification Of Competency Swimming Activity Through Machine Learning, Larry Powell, Seth Polsley, Drew Casey, Tracy Hammond
International Journal of Aquatic Research and Education
Every year, an average of 3,536 people die from drowning in America. The significant factors that cause unintentional drowning are people’s lack of water safety awareness and swimming proficiency. Current industry and research trends regarding swimming activity recognition and commercial motion sensors focus more on lap swimming utilized by expert swimmers and do not account for freeform activities. Enhancing swimming education through wearable technology can aid people in learning efficient and effective swimming techniques and water safety. We developed a novel wearable system capable of storing and processing sensor data to categorize competitive and survival swimming activities on a mobile …

Experiences Of Physical Education Teachers In District Of Dinalupihan On Students' Performance Assessment In Times Of Covid-19 Pandemic, Jay Mark Dela Pena Sinag
Indonesian Journal of Research in Physical Education, Sport, and Health
The global COVID-19 pandemic has brought modifications to the world’s education system and not only in the Philippines and requires us to adapt to the change in the teaching-learning process which both teachers and students has to face for the quality education of the country. The radical shift to digital pedagogy followed by online assessments and examinations brought new experiences to both educators and learners like using different technological softwares. This study utilized a qualitative-phenomenological research approach that seeks to understand and describe the universal essence of a phenomenon. The approach investigates the everyday experiences of human beings while suspending …
Abstinence-Only Sex Education In Public Schools: A Special Commentary, Julianna Williams
Abstinence-Only Sex Education In Public Schools: A Special Commentary, Julianna Williams
Journal of Counseling Sexology & Sexual Wellness: Research, Practice, and Education
Abstinence Only Until Marriage (AOUM) programs, also known as Sexual Risk Avoidance (SRA) programs, are non-comprehensive, religion and values-based programs that are still widely used, and supported by government funding, in schools around the United States of America. Content of these programs include messages of misogyny, heteronormativity, and racism, among others. Existing research has indicated that sex education programs lack efficacy in prevention or reduction in teen pregnancy and STI infection. However, little research has investigated the potentially harmful impact of biased messaging to long term sexual and mental health and well-being. In this commentary, I highlight some of the …
The Association Between Time Spent On Screens And Reading With Myopia, Premyopia And Ocular Biometric And Anthropometric Measures In 6- To 7-Year-Old Schoolchildren In Ireland, Síofra Harrington, Veronica O'Dwyer
The Association Between Time Spent On Screens And Reading With Myopia, Premyopia And Ocular Biometric And Anthropometric Measures In 6- To 7-Year-Old Schoolchildren In Ireland, Síofra Harrington, Veronica O'Dwyer
Articles
Purpose More time spent on near tasks has consistently been associated with the promotion of myopia. The World Health Organization advises limiting daily screentime to less than 2 h for children aged five and over. This study explored the relationship between time spent on screens and reading/writing with refractive status, ocular biometric and anthropometric factors in 6-to 7-year- olds in Ireland.
Methods Participants were 723 schoolchildren (377 boys [51.8%]), mean age 7.08 (0.45) years. The examination included cycloplegic autorefraction (1% cyclopentolate hydrochloride), ocular biometry (Zeiss IOLMaster), height (cm) and weight (kg). Screentime and reading/writing time were reported by parents/legal guardians …

Annual Research Symposium
Hypothesis/Purpose: In this report we present a case of a 20-year-old female with congenital intellectual disability, stunted growth, and hypothyroidism. Competitive genetic hybridization (CHG) revealed a loss of 17p13.3, and the deletion was not present in either parent. This deletion has not previously been characterized, but mutations on the p-arm of chromosome 17 are responsible for Miller-Dieker Syndrome and Isolated Lissencephaly Sequence, both of which share symptoms in common with the patient.
Methods: Peripheral mononuclear cells (PBMCs) were used for karyotyping and competitive genetic hybridization (CHG). Bioinformatic analysis was carried out using the Genome Data Viewer (ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/genome/gdv).
Results: Karyotype was …

The Current State Of Underrepresented Osteopathic Minorities In Competitive Specialties, Emmanuel Oyalabu, Steve Guzman, Dashon Eure, Ezenna Obilor
Annual Research Symposium
It is well documented that barriers exist for underrepresented minorities to enter the field of medicine and even more competitive residencies. As defined by the NRMP, competitive specialties include but are not limited to Interventional Radiology, Orthopedic Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Radiation Oncology, Vascular Surgery, Neurosurgery, Dermatology, and Otornylogy (NRMP-AMA). A large number of osteopathic medical school graduates have a history of going into primary care specialties because many osteopathic medical schools have a primary care focus (Primary Care- Osteopathic Medicine). The emphasis on primary care, whether intentional or not, can foster a less-than-advantageous environment for underrepresented minority students (URM), pursuing …
