B2: Presence Of Immunosuppressive Drugs Affect Innate Immune Response And Monocyte Differentiation In Lung Transplant Patients, Inayat Kaur Oms Iii, Ryan Wang Oms Ii, Amy E.L. Stone
Annual Research Symposium
Lung transplant patients are administered Immunosuppressive Drugs (ISDs) to prevent transplant rejection, but this also puts them at constant risk of infection due to the decreased ability of the immune system to respond to subsequent infections by viruses, bacteria etc.
Purpose
This paper focuses on the effect of ISDs on the innate immune response. We are using different parts of viruses and bacteria and allowing them to represent the organism as a whole.
Methods
As representatives of the innate immune system, we are going to be testing monocyte, macrophage, and dendritic cell lineages. We are hypothesizing that the presence of …

Annual Research Symposium
There are no published studies documenting outcomes with the use of eravacycline against drug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii. The purpose of this study is to assess the efficacy of eravacycline use, in comparison to best previously available therapy, in patients with drug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii pneumonia.

Annual Research Symposium
Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has caused many universities to expand the use of videoconferencing technology to continue academic coursework. This study examines dental students’ experience with videoconferencing technology, comfort levels, and perceptions of using videoconferencing technology.
Methods: 54 out of 100 second-year dental students enrolled in a course on local anesthesia, 54 completed a survey following an online synchronous lecture given in September 2020. Survey questions asked about prior experience with videoconferencing, comfort levels, and reasons for not turning on their video (showing their face).
Results: Overall, 48.2% had little or no prior experience with videoconferencing prior to March 2020. …

S3: Post-Covid-19 Recovery Care Plan For Older Adults With Continuing Symptoms Of Breathlessness And Fatigue, Nancy M. Bryan, Marie Wright-Rolf Edd, Msn, Rn, Siboney Zelaya Ph.D., Mph, Msn Ed, Rn, Justin Carbonel
Annual Research Symposium
Background:
The CDC research actively continues gathering information related to short and long-term symptoms that remain following the acute phase of Covid-19 diagnosis (CDC, 2020).
Fatigue and shortness of breath are listed among the most commonly reported long-term symptoms of Covid-19:
- Fatigue
- Shortness of Breath
- Cough
- Joint Pain
- Chest Pain (CDC, 2020).
Evidence suggests that older adults over the age of 60 who have multiple comorbidities are more susceptible and are at a higher risk of contracting the Covid-19 virus thus potentially prolonging recovery time post diagnosis (Greenhalgh, Knight, A’Court, Buxton, & Husain, 2020).

College campuses have been an area where the novel coronavirus has spread rapidly, thus this study is focused on compliance with COVID-19 related non-pharmaceutical interventions among college students.
We surveyed over 600 college students from across the United States and modeled predictors of compliance with non-pharmaceutical interventions. To determine how applicable nationwide modeling might be to individual local campuses we also administered this same survey to nearly 600 students at two large universities in Utah County (Brigham Young University and Utah Valley University). We then ran structural equation modeling (SEM) to determine what factors are related to student compliance with …

This presentation will explain the historical development of pornography. It will highlight four segments: 1- Porn’s impact on brain development of reward pathways, ultimately increasing the appetite for more porn. 2- Porn can be a false substitute for real intimacy, resulting in decreased sexual satisfaction with a real person and increased verbal and physical aggression. 3- Porn promotes sex trafficking, promotes multiple sex partners and reduced STD prevention. 4- A review of interventions available to assist clients in navigating a lifestyle away from pornography.

Improved eating behaviors and daily participation in physical activity such as swimming might abate the likelihood of African American youth becoming obese. Yet many African American youth neither consume the recommended daily servings of nutritious foods nor know how to swim. The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of a culturally tailored multicomponent summer intervention to reduce obesity and unintentional drownings among underserved African American youth. Children (n = 145) participated in a three-hour, community-based intervention for four weeks. Measures of children’s attitudes perceived behavioral control, and subjective norms toward swimming, nutrition, and physical fitness were …
