The lack of women in leadership positions within the domain of athletic administration is a phenomenon that is widely understood (Galloway, 2012). To address the dearth of research in this area, the current study explored the experiences of African American women athletic administrators at Division I HBCUs. The research questions that guided this study were: 1) What are the experiences of African-American women athletic administrators at Division I HBCUs?; 2) What are the factors that impact the experiences of Division I HBCU African- American women athletic administrators?
