Effects Of Internal Imagery & Experimental State On The Performance Of Intercollegiate Smallbore Rifle Shooters, Paul Whitworth May 1986

Effects Of Internal Imagery & Experimental State On The Performance Of Intercollegiate Smallbore Rifle Shooters, Paul Whitworth

Masters Theses & Specialist Projects

This study was conducted to examine the effects of internal imagery and experiential state on the performance of intercollegiate smallbore rifle shooters. An interaction between internal imagery and experiential state was hypothesized. Subjects included 43 smallbore rifle shooters from 7 universities stratified into 2 groups. Group 1, composed of 23 shooters, received internal imagery instructions and practice time; group 2 received unrelated instructions and an equal amount of practice time. Following the instructional period, a posttest was administered to each group (the NRA/ISU Style 1/2 course on an indoor 50 foot range) and each shooter completed an experiential state measure. …

Masters Theses & Specialist Projects

This study was undertaken to investigate the importance of various characteristics possessed by volunteer Hunter Education Instructors, as perceived by two study populations. The populations of volunteer Hunter Education Instructors in Kentucky and Hunter Safety Coordinators in the United States and Canada were asked to rate the importance of thirty-five given characteristics. Pressure Basketball And The Speed Game: A Comprehensive Coaching Philosophy, Lanny Vaneman May 1979

Pressure Basketball And The Speed Game: A Comprehensive Coaching Philosophy, Lanny Vaneman

Masters Theses & Specialist Projects

There has been in the past, and likely will continue to be, an obvious lack of printed material dealing with the discipline of basketball. The wide spectrum of everything that is to be taught, as well as how it is to be introduced (in the writer’s opinion) has been neglected. Rather than focusing on one phase or a limited number of areas of interest, this work attempts to serve as a comprehensive basketball coaching manual for a beginning mentor. It should also serve well for one who wishes to reevaluate or revise his coaching philosophy. Careful thought has been given …

A pretest-posttest design using two standardized instruments was employed to measure the health knowledge gain and health attitude change. Data was statistically analyzed by use …

Laterality: Motor Learning & The Non-Dominant Hand, Rella Nase Jul 1977

Laterality: Motor Learning & The Non-Dominant Hand, Rella Nase

Masters Theses & Specialist Projects

The cultural design of the United States of America has caught up its left-handed individuals in a righthander's world. Daily the left-hander or sinistral is forced to cope with problems which present themselves only to sinistrals, posing no difficulty to right-handers or dextrals. It was the intention of this investigation to determine whether, as a result of this emphasis on dextrality training, sinistrals could more quickly learn motor tasks with the non -dominant hand than could dextrals.

The hypothesis upon which the investigation was founded was stated in null form: no significant difference exists between motor learning displayed by sinistrals …

An Elementary Physical Education Curriculum For Jones-Jaggers Laboratory School, Joanne Powell Jul 1975

An Elementary Physical Education Curriculum For Jones-Jaggers Laboratory School, Joanne Powell

Masters Theses & Specialist Projects

This project proposes the utilization of a movement education approach in a physical education curriculum for elementary school grades one through six. It is intended to assist elementary physical education teachers in establishing and maintaining a program based on current research and literature in the field.

The movement education philosophy differs from the traditional physical education approach in the following ways:

  1. The program is child-centered rather than subject-centered with successful experiences for each child of prime importance.

  2. Consideration of the affective domain is as necessary to the program as the psychomotor.

  3. Creativity is encouraged in that the teacher seeks new …

  2. A progressive aerobics training program has no effect on resting, exercise or recovery heart rate.
  3. A progressive aerobics training program does not increase predicted maximum oxygen consumption (VO2).

The Desirability And Feasibility Of Intercollegiate Sports For College Women, Leigh F. Kieffer Jul 1968

The Desirability And Feasibility Of Intercollegiate Sports For College Women, Leigh F. Kieffer

Masters Theses & Specialist Projects

The primary purpose of this study is to examine the present programs of physical education in Kentucky colleges; to determine the degree to which they meet the competitive sports needs of college women; and to explore the possibilities for enriching the program and to make recommendations for correcting inadequacies.

In considering the inclusion of a program of intercollegiate sports competition for college women, three questions are basic. Second, what is the status of Kentucky colleges with regard to these pertinent …

The Effectiveness Of Using Increased Increment Track And Field Scoring Tables With Female University Physical Education Students, Douglas Coghlan Aug 1967

The Effectiveness Of Using Increased Increment Track And Field Scoring Tables With Female University Physical Education Students, Douglas Coghlan

Masters Theses & Specialist Projects

There were two purposes involved in this study. The first objective was to construct increased increment scoring tables for selected track and field events based on the achievement of female physical education students at Rhodes University, South Africa, using the initial performances recorded by the students in each event during the years 1957, 1958, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1964, 1965 and 1966. Secondly, the tables were used to test the effectiveness of the increased increment principle in predicting the improvement of the students in subsequent trials during the same period.

The Intermediate Hurdles, John Cooper Aug 1966

The Intermediate Hurdles, John Cooper

Masters Theses & Specialist Projects

This study however is confined to the Quarter-mile Intermediate Hurdles, as we know it today, an event for which, besides having a great deal of technical knowledge the participant must also be a highly trained individual. Even in Greek times, though, the individuals would train themselves hard in order to be better equipped to face the task which was in front of them. This, however, is the only similarity which exists between ancient Greek athletes and the modern day conception of the Quarter-mile Hurdles.

All our educational agencies are stressing the need for a unified, integrated, and functioning program of this type. This study makes an attempt to develop such a program in this one particular school.
