In Iowa, The Electric Company is broadcast over the IEBN (Iowa Educational Broadcast Network). Approximately 65 percent of the population of Iowa is capable of receiving a clear signal from one of the IEBN stations. According to a national survey by Drs. R. J. Liebert and R. E. The primary purpose of this paper is to research the instruction of library skills taught by Iowa elementary librarians in their upper elementary library programs. Another objective is to research not only when library skills are taught but also how they are taught to students.

The problem that was considered in the study was whether the role of the science supervisor was perceived differently by secondary and elementary teachers of science.

A fifty-four item questionnaire was developed. The items on the questionnaire consisted of statements of tasks which a science supervisor could do, and the teachers were asked to respond on a scale of opinion if they considered this task a role of the science supervisor.

The sample represented five school systems in Iowa which employ a science supervisor. Questionnaires were sent to 156 secondary science teachers and 153 elementary teachers. Ninety-five of all the …

It was the purpose of this study (1) to observe services being offered to children and teachers through an elementary/media program; {2) to investigate organizational practices being used in elementary resource centers; (3) to subjectively evaluate present practices; and (4) to recommend a plan for functional library service in grades K-6.
