Cover, Copy, Compare (CCC) has been shown to be an effective intervention at improving single-digit multiplication fluency within the academic intervention literature. The application of the three-term contingency trial embedded within CCC provides the intervention with several key components of evidence-based interventions. Given that teachers across the nation are struggling to find resources to meet current deficits in student mathematics skills, the current study aimed to address this issue by investigating two versions of CCC: Traditional- CCC (T-CCC) and CCC- Answer Only (CCC-AO) through an instructional hierarchy paradigm. The purpose of this study is to investigate and describe the present and past experiences of sibling play for siblings of children with autism. Narrative inquiry will provide participants a place for their voices, emotions, and actions to be heard, in hopes that we may glean better insight into seemingly invisible features of daily play within the sibling relationships. Because daily play is such an integral part of shaping social interactions, behaviors, and perceptions, it is important to better understand how siblings experience these potentially non-typical play experiences.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of teleconsultation on knowledge and implementation of self-monitoring interventions with students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in a general education classroom setting. Participants were special education teachers employed at a public elementary school in the Capital Region of New York State, who work with at least 1 student with a disability classification of Autism. The purpose of the present study was to compare the classification accuracy of a previous year’s end-of-year state assessment, a computer-adaptive diagnostic assessment (i-Ready), and the combination of the previous year’s end-of-year state assessment with the following year’s i-Ready performance to predict the rate of students passing or failing the following year’s end-of-year state assessment in English Language Arts (ELA) and math. Mobile technology distraction refers to cognitive distraction due to both attention dividing and attention switching between off-task mobile technology activities (e.g., texting and emailing) and learning activities (e.g., attending to lectures and reading textbooks). Given the prevalence and complexity of mobile technology distraction, this meta-analysis aims to statistically synthesize empirical findings from 27 experimental studies and estimate the effects of mobile technology distraction on college students’ recall test performance. The overall analysis of combined recall scores indicated a significant negative medium-sized effect of mobile technology distraction, Hedges’s g = -0.59, under the Robust Variance Estimation (RVE) model. Using the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study Data (TIMSS) 2015 dataset, this study examines 30 different contextual indicators to determine significant predictors of girls’ mathematics achievement globally. The study design employs three nested levels in the hierarchical linear model (individual, classroom, and nation) to analyze cross-national scores and responses to the contextual questionnaires. Additionally, the focus is on girls as a standalone, independent population, not in comparison to boys. Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) are negative events and environments (e.g., poverty) that occur during childhood and are known to undermine health and wellbeing. Adverse childhood experiences are related to cognitive outcomes in populations of children. A specific area of cognition associated with ACEs is locus of control (LoC). While the association between ACEs and LoC is clear, what is not well understood is how—that is, through what mechanism—ACEs influence LoC. Statistics can be either parametric or non-parametric, depending on whether distributional assumptions about the data and sampling distributions are required. Parametric and non-parametric approaches each include a variety of inferential methods. These methods can be seen in the field of single-case experimental design (SCED). Check-in/check-out (CICO) is one of the most researched and implemented Tier 2 interventions, and there is ample research to indicate that it is efficient and effective. It has been noted that teachers typically do not successfully implement evidence-based practices (EBPs) after participating in traditional models of professional development (PD); however, research indicates that consultation improves teachers’ implementation of EBPs. Teleconsultation is new within schools, but there is evidence that it is an acceptable replacement for face-to-face consultation.

Grit and mindset are two of the hottest topics in education today, but research on their predictive power for academic success is inconclusive and rife with gaps and limitations. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationships between grit, mindset, self-regulated learning (SRL), and academic outcomes for adult students attending online colleges. This was investigated using data from the Diagnostic Assessment and Achievement of College Skills (DAACS) project, and includes 9,276 undergraduate, mostly adult students from two online institutions in the United States. However, parental monitoring refers to parent-driven behaviors that are related but distinct from parental knowledge. Mixed measures of parental monitoring and parental knowledge may lead to misunderstanding about how these parenting behaviors are related to adolescent aggression. Participants in this study included five ELs attending a public elementary school in northern New York State. In 1998, Black and Wiliam used the term the black box to illustrate how little was known about what happens in classrooms. Their review spawned a great deal of research on formative assessment, including strategies for giving feedback to students. More recently, scholars in the field of classroom assessment and measurement have expressed the need for research on how students understand, interpret, and process feedback. The New York State Education Department required that all school districts implement Response to Intervention by July 1, 2012. Given that measurable change can be expected between one and three years after prioritizing actions of change, this study will examine the level to which the Response to Intervention framework is being prioritized in New York schools and districts. Specifically, this study will examine practitioner self-reported perception of implementation to determine the extent to which school districts participating in a statewide personnel development project incorporate the four components of RtI including, multi-level prevention system, screening, progress monitoring and data-based decision making.

This study tested the hypothesis that exploratory learning, with and without analogous problems, would improve students’ ability to make connections between conceptually-related topics. In this randomized experiment, undergraduates in introductory physics (N = 171) studied a new topic under three different instructional conditions. Order and type of instruction varied: Two experimental groups explored the concept before hearing a lecture; a control group followed the typical sequence of hearing a lecture before working with the concept. This study investigated the relationship between teachers’ comprehension monitoring strategies instruction and students’ reading comprehension in the context of the Interactive Strategies Approach –Extended intervention (ISA-X, Gelzheiser et al., 2011). In the ISA-X, the teachers were encouraged to provide third and fourth grade students with comprehension monitoring strategies instruction, which was called “Mix up? Ethnic identity is a major component of the psychological development and well-being of adolescents and adults. In the United States, immigrants are often tasked with balancing their minority culture and a dominant White American culture. This study used the two-dimensional Racial/Cultural Identity Development (R/CID) Model to illustrate progression toward an integrated ethnic identity, in which individuals identify with and integrate their minority ethnic group and the dominant group. An integrated identity is achieved at the Integrative Awareness status of the R/CID Model.
