The Power Of An Idea..., Illinois Mathematics And Science Academy

IMSA History

It is our privilege to share with you the First Decade Report of the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy, an educational laboratory engaged in serious inquiry about critical issues of teaching and learning.

During our early years, we faced many challenges; these strengthened our resolve and deepened our commitment to transform teaching and learning in mathematics, science and technology.

While IMSA is still a very young enterprise, in ten short …

Let's Surf-The-Net! World-Wide Web (Www) Sites In Italy, Or: How/Why Include A Web-Browser Component In Culture And Civilization Classes, Ilona Klein

Faculty Publications

First, this essay details the technical elements required to set up a computer for Web-surfing, then it discusses the rationale for a Web-browser component in Culture and Civilization courses. The first part of this study (the technical portion) is geared specifically toward teachers with little or no familiarity with the Internet and the World-Wide Web. A Plan For The Implementation Of An Articulation/Tech Prep Program Between A Rural High School In Central Georgia And A Regional Technical School, Carol E. Peacock Jan 1991

A Plan For The Implementation Of An Articulation/Tech Prep Program Between A Rural High School In Central Georgia And A Regional Technical School, Carol E. Peacock

Theses and Dissertations

Students entering the 1990's are being faced with many different decisions as they prepare for successful careers. The workplace of the future is going to be one in which technology plays a major part. Educators are faced with the responsibility of providing students with the educational foundations and opportunities to become successful in the age of changing technologies. All of this is taking place at a time when more and more students are following a general, unfocused curriculum in high school and many are becoming so discouraged that they are dropping out of school altogether.

Research on articulation/technical preparation indicates …

Video Tape Recording: What It Is And How It Can Be Used In The Schools, Donald Bryant Frankhauser Jul 1964

Video Tape Recording: What It Is And How It Can Be Used In The Schools, Donald Bryant Frankhauser

Graduate Student Research Papers

I feel the video tape recorder will have a very definite place in the schools. It will be one of our audiovisual aids, just as television, the 16mm. projector and others. It is a tool with unlimited possibilities and a great deal of flexibility. It is a device that can and will be used by teachers at all levels of teaching. It is not an instrument to take the place of the teacher, but, like all audiovisual equipment, is a tool to help the teacher do a more effective job.
