On July 31, 1979, the Yakima School Board of School District 7, Yakima, Washington, approved a graduation policy change increasing the total number of credits required from forty-eight to sixty-six. This change required that eighteen credits be transferred from grade nine of the junior high school setting. This study attempts to assess the impact of the change upon the performance and attitudes of ninth grade students. Indications are that students accepted the changes positively, felt they were working harder, and, in two schools showed a decrease in the failure rate. Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
During the 1979-80 school year, two Algebra I classes were involved in a study to test the effects of two methods for reviewing homework problems on students' achievements and attitudes. One review procedure was to solve and explain each problem during the class period that followed the class period in which the homework assignment had been made. The other procedure involved solving and explaining only the problems that students requested to have reviewed. While one procedure was being used with one class, the other procedure was being used with the comparison class. One treatment procedure was used with a class …

Students' Selected Reading Materials According To Interest And The Relationship To Comprehension, Carol Lynn Olson
Students' Selected Reading Materials According To Interest And The Relationship To Comprehension, Carol Lynn Olson
All Master's Theses
It was hypothesized that there would be no significant difference between students' comprehension of a passage which was of high interest and students' comprehension of a passage which was of low interest.
Eighty-six high school students read two articles they indicated interest in and two they did not. Comprehension questions were answered on each of the four articles.
Of the 20 t tests conducted only two showed significant differences. This suggest that factors other than interest affect comprehension.
