An analysis of the Tolt Junior-Senior High School faculty's use of instructional media showed a need for a program designed to increase the effective use of the Learning Resource Center's available media. This project consisted of developing a series of inservice classes designed to train the teachers to better utilize the overhead, opaque, slide, filmstrip, and 16mm projectors, tape recorders, VTR, microfiche reader/printer, and dry mount press. Appropriate examples have been produced in each medium and a tool created for the evaluation of the inservice program.

All Master's Theses
This paper presents a comparative investigation of five basic processes in the duplicating field that are readily available to teachers in British Columbia. Forty teachers from fourteen schools, kindergarten through grade twelve, were surveyed to determine present practices and needs for this method of communication. Cost, efficiency, and quality comparison are included.
Recommendations include the need for teacher in-service, guidelines for determining the most suitable means of reproducing learning materials on paper, and suggestions for additional research.

A Comparison Of Media Between The Linear And Broadview Approach In Self-Instruction, Leslie T. Cotter
A Comparison Of Media Between The Linear And Broadview Approach In Self-Instruction, Leslie T. Cotter
All Master's Theses
For this study, two groups of students were exposed to two different sets of self-instructions using a linear and broadview format. Each student was then asked to demonstrate, without the aid of instructions, operation of three machines selected by a laboratory assistant. The present study is investigative in nature and seeks to clarify the following question: whether a difference exists in student performance using linear or a broadview format.
Past And Possible Future Preferences For 8-Mm And 16-Mm Projectors: First-Class School Districts Washington State, Milton E. Ruth
Past And Possible Future Preferences For 8-Mm And 16-Mm Projectors: First-Class School Districts Washington State, Milton E. Ruth
All Master's Theses
Educators recognize the contributions motion picture films make in the classroom learning situation. However, the problem of determining budget expenditures necessitates a continual evaluation of the utility of specific equipment. This study was an attempt to ascertain the past and future preferences for eight millimeter and sixteen millimeter motion picture projectors. For purposes of this investigation, the following null hypothesis was used: Given a hypothetical grant, there would be no significant difference in preference for purchasing eight millimeter motion picture projectors over sixteen millimeter motion picture projectors by first-class school districts in the state of Washington.
Preparations For Curriculum Change, Orville Edgar Clough
Preparations For Curriculum Change, Orville Edgar Clough
Graduate Student Research Papers
Today is an era of rapid social and technical change and the schools are faced with the problem of keeping pace to meet the challenge. This means that education must rely more and more upon new methods and innovations. In this paper, these new techniques used in teaching shall be referred to as curriculum change. A curriculum change might occur in one specific learning area, or it could be a reorganization of the entire instructional program. The purpose of this study was (1) to find how needs for change are being justified; (2) to show how teachers are being prepared …
Video Tape Recording: What It Is And How It Can Be Used In The Schools, Donald Bryant Frankhauser
Video Tape Recording: What It Is And How It Can Be Used In The Schools, Donald Bryant Frankhauser
Graduate Student Research Papers
I feel the video tape recorder will have a very definite place in the schools. It will be one of our audiovisual aids, just as television, the 16mm. projector and others. It is a tool with unlimited possibilities and a great deal of flexibility. It is a device that can and will be used by teachers at all levels of teaching. It is not an instrument to take the place of the teacher, but, like all audiovisual equipment, is a tool to help the teacher do a more effective job.
Administering The Audio-Visual Program In The Elementary School, Arthur Samuel Martin
Administering The Audio-Visual Program In The Elementary School, Arthur Samuel Martin
Graduate Student Research Papers
The purpose of this study is to assemble information that will help an elementary school principal, or a person in a leadership position, administer a program for effective audio-visual instruction in the elementary school. This paper will attempt to show how proper supervision can lay a foundation for intelligent audio-visual instruction.
Techniques In Evaluating Instructional Television, James E. Rediske
Techniques In Evaluating Instructional Television, James E. Rediske
Graduate Student Research Papers
Experiments have shown that television's potential as an important educational resource and tool is unlimited and, as yet, only the surface has been scratched. In fact, the realm of interaction has broadened through classroom viewing to the extent that a new and complete evaluation of the relationship between the student and teacher must be made.
The purpose of this paper will be to (1) identify and clarify the questions: who should evaluate, why should evaluation take place, how often should evaluation be conducted, and how should evaluation be achieved; and (2) provide sample questionnaire material from which evaluations could be …
The Use Of Timed Exposure Devices In Elementary School Teaching, Michael S. Mckinney
The Use Of Timed Exposure Devices In Elementary School Teaching, Michael S. Mckinney
Graduate Student Research Papers
It was the purpose of this study to (1) explore the use of timed exposure devices for teaching in the elementary school, (2) determine the feasibility of using these devices (to what extent these devices could be used and how they could be used), and (3) determine what value they would have for use by an elementary school teacher.

A Survey Of Literature Pertaining To In Service Training Of Teachers In The Use Of Audio-Visual Materials And Equipment, Lewis E. Patton
Graduate Student Research Papers
The teacher trained more than ten years ago rarely had opportunities for audio-visual studies. Therefore, it is incumbent on the audio-visual director to provide such information for members of the teaching staff. It was the purpose of this research (1) to show the value of audio-visual aids in the learning process; (2) to determine common audiovisual materials and equipment used in the classroom; (3) to present the role of the audio-visual director in the inservice training program; and (4) to show the teacher's role in the program.
The Effective Use Of Educational Television, Richard Don Smedley
The Effective Use Of Educational Television, Richard Don Smedley
Graduate Student Research Papers
It was the purpose of this study to (1) establish a need for developing utilization procedures for educational television, (2) determine materials needed for effective use, (3) point out ways to prepare the classroom for most effective reception, (4) show how to orient students, (5) suggest viewing procedures, (6) cite the need for follow-up and possible follow-up techniques, and (7) indicate possible methods of evaluation for both program and students.
