School districts should be organized in an efficient manner while also being equitable to all. Reorganization of school districts could help meet these criteria. At present Michigan has 529 school districts varying in size from 75 to 200,000 students. Due to the large variation in number of students in districts, it is very difficult to achieve equity. During the period 1940 to 1964, progress toward equity occurred when school district reorganizations dropped the number of districts from 6,239 to 545. Prevalence Of Articulation Errors In Stuttering School Age Children, Laura M. Sartin

Sixty speech-1anguage pathologists throughout the State of Georgia' served as respondents for a survey of school age stutterers exhibiting articulation errors. The questionnaire requested that children between the ages of five and 18 be reported, that dialectal and developmental errors should not be reported, and that stutterers should have been enrolled in a speech therapy program for a minimum of six months. Of those stutterers reported, the following variables were requested: race, age in months, severity of dysfluency, severity of articulation disorder, and length of time in treatment.

It is generally held that object-naming begins between 12-24 months of age (Bloom and Lahey, 1978). This is the corner stone of communication. A deficiency at this stage of development will severely limit a child's communicative skills throughout his or her entire life.

Educable mentally retarded (N=220) elementary and secondary students were administered Inventory of Basic Skills or the Inventory of Essential Skills (Brigance), The Peabody Individual Achievement Test (PIAT), and the Wide Range Achieve Test (WRAT). Results suggested that the Brigance measures do not replace the PIAT and WRAT. (CL)

Financial implications of the current Washington Special Education Funding Formula for the 1980-81 school year were studied. Financial data for 229 school districts which provided education for handicapped children was collected for the study. The results showed that the majority of school districts which provide education for handicapped children did not receive funding equal to expenditures for education programs for the 1980-81 school year. Recommendations for increasing Washington's funding for handicapped education programs are discussed.

This study involved the design and investigation of a measure of adaptive behavior (Street Survival Skills Questionnaire) for the mentally retarded. Following a careful review of existing measures of adaptive behavior, a comprehensive review of research relating to prediction of independent living, and interviews with rehabilitation staff, a group of nine areas were targeted for inclusion in the instrument. This paper gives a description of the "Occupational Versatility Program" as implemented into the Industrial Education Program at Jason Lee Junior High School. The program studied was a new industrial arts curriculum replacing the traditional industrial arts program. A description of the program was given as well as the problems encountered in the organization and operation of the program.
