In the first semester of my honors thesis, I looked at how big events like COVID-19 affect non-heritage English speakers. Through my research, I was able to compile a literature review to see what challenges ELL students face, and how we could overcome those difficulties. This then led me this semester to look at what strategies could better assist ELL students in the classroom. To understand how teachers are working with students in classrooms now I interviewed teachers and observed classrooms to find out what strategies, technology, and resources could help ELL students.

The focus of the information included in this website is on long term language comprehension and retention of content in science, social studies, and math subject areas.
