Embodied learning happens when thoughts and actions are informed by sensing and noticing inner bodily states. Yoga is commonly cited as a mind-body practice that enhances embodied learning, yet there is a gap in yoga teacher education literature pertaining to this competency. A qualitative phenomenological study was used to understand how embodied learning was exhibited amongst alumni of a residential yoga teacher training. Data was examined using interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA) to determine in what ways, if any, the yoga teacher training altered trainees’ relationships with their bodies. Abstract

COVID-19 reshaped short duration relationship marriage education (RME), requiring that previously in person programs, including the Utah Marriage Celebration (UMC) move to remote formats. It is critical that outcomes of such transitions are evaluated and assessed. Marriage Celebration 2021 included 348 participants who responded after participating in the virtual event and 148 participants who responded to a one month follow up. Results indicate that like prior Marriage Celebration events, participants indicated their perceived relationship knowledge increased. Commitment to change was evaluated for the first time and showed significant results related to age and issues being covered. Implications for RME …

This study aimed to analyze changes in perceived stress and physiological variables in undergraduate students over one semester. A quasi-experimental study was conducted using non-random convenience sampling with 30 undergraduate students enrolled in an Introduction to Stress Management class at a small, regional institution in the upper Midwest in the fall of 2022.

Data collection included the use of the Perceived Stress Scale (i.e., PSS-10) and stress physiological variables (e.g., heart rate, breathing pattern, respiration rate). This design-based research study, grounded in the theoretical framework of dual capacity building, explored the impact of a literacy course on multilingual learners’ caregivers, focusing on their knowledge and self-efficacy in supporting their children’s literacy development. Findings revealed a collaborative process between caregivers and researchers, where caregivers contributed insights into their learning needs and influenced the course’s development and implementation. At the end of the course, caregivers’ average self-efficacy score showed a statistically significant 21% increase, while their knowledge ratings increased by 15%. This study explored the relationship between metacognitive awareness and learning approaches in two groups of graduate students: direct-pathway students and adult graduate students. Direct-pathway students transitioned directly from their undergraduate programs to graduate school, while adult graduate students had delayed entry, typically after age 25 and after working for several years. To investigate differences between the two groups, we utilized a self-reported survey incorporating the Metacognitive Awareness Inventory (MAI) and the Study Skills Inventory for Students (ASSIST). We examined an outdoor, experiential learning approach within a science methods course for nontraditional adult learners who are often career changers or individuals transitioning into teaching later in life. Through immersive, nature-based experiences, the course connected adult learners to science via direct engagement with the natural world. We include reflections from two nontraditional learners who participated in a 6-week nature journaling process, showcasing how they embraced inquiry-based experiences in natural settings. These reflections reveal a supportive learning environment that values diverse learning styles and life experiences and encourages exploration. This qualitative study explored the lived experiences of seven educators, program leaders, and other direct service providers who support the learning and development of human trafficking survivors in trauma-informed agencies in Kentucky. Using narrative inquiry methods (Clandinin & Connelly, 1990), this study identified the trauma-informed models and strategies currently employed in Kentucky agencies that serve trafficking survivors, participants’ experiences with successful strategies, and the barriers they have experienced. This study addressed research gaps between the effects of trauma on learning, trauma-informed educational models, the unique needs of trafficking survivors, and trauma-informed care for trafficking survivors in non-educational settings. Volunteers play a pivotal role in enhancing the effectiveness of the 4-H program. Research demonstrates that offering professional development opportunities to volunteers contributes to retention. The Volunteer Research Knowledge Competency Taxonomy (VRKC) is a framework that pinpoints essential competencies for proficiently delivering 4-H youth development programs. This article provides an overview of newly refined VRKC resources and discusses their application with volunteers for virtual and in-person delivery.

Managing the spread of introduced invasive species relies on educating recreationists that currently or potentially harbor such species. By partnering with a local brewery, we developed the Lagers for Lakes Draft Series to facilitate outreach about aquatic invasive species in Erie, Pennsylvania. To date, Lagers for Lakes drafts and associated launch events have reached over 230 individuals and increased awareness of invasive species by 86%. With the materials provided here and the lessons learned from these events, we hope similar outreach efforts can be developed elsewhere to educate and minimize the spread of invasive species.

Background: Although periodic vitamin B12 monitoring is recommended for patients on chronic metformin therapy, the recommendation is not adequately followed. Similar quality improvement project in the past had failed due to ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Objectives: The main objective of this study is to evaluate the impact of focused educational lectures on vitamin B12 screening rates. Our target study population included diabetics and prediabetics on chronic metformin therapy.
