Elizabeth Boyd's Disappearing Act: Performing Literary Legacy On The Georgian Stage, Kristina Straub
Elizabeth Boyd's Disappearing Act: Performing Literary Legacy On The Georgian Stage, Kristina Straub
ABO: Interactive Journal for Women in the Arts, 1640-1830
How do we trace the historical processes that grant some writers visibility and, hence, legacy, while shoving others into the historical closet? This essay offers the case study of Elizabeth Boyd (1727-1745), a novelist, poet, and playwright who has received some attention from scholars interested in women’s contributions to the legacy of William Shakespeare in the second quarter of the eighteenth century. In particular, her unperformed play, Don Sancho: Or, the Students Whim, a Ballad Opera of Two Acts, with Minerva’s Triumph, a Masque (1739) dramatizes a woman writer’s reflections on the politics of legacy at this formative moment in …

Influence On The Growth And Development Of Tomato Planting Systems, Shuxrat Shavkatovich Toychiev, Аkmal Botirovich Xayriddinov
Bulletin of Gulistan State University
It is known that the sustainable development of each country depends largely on the availability of food products for the population. Our country has sufficient conditions to grow abundant and high-quality, affordable vegetables, melons and potatoes. Usually for sowing vegetables such as tomatoes, sweet peppers and eggplants, their seedlings are prepared first in greenhouses and then planted in open spaces. It should be noted that sowing tomato seeds in the open field is more effective than sowing. Temporary sowing of tomato seeds under the film cover and taking care of the growing season can significantly reduce labor costs and increase …

The 2006 wheat crop has faced more than the usual number of challenges. Western Nebraska was again faced with shortages of rainfall as well as wheat streak mosaic. Eastern Nebraska fared better, but some places had soil borne mosaic problems. Overall, the state yield was down but becasue of similar problems throughout the Great Plains, the price of wheat has remained strong. This circular is a progress report of variety trials conducted by personnel of the Agronomy Department, West Central and Panhandle Research and Extension Centers and their associated agricultural laboratories and the South Central Ag Lab. Nf04-616 Managing Foliar Diseases Of Winter Wheat With Fungicides Treatment Criteria, Profitability And Products, John E. Watkins
University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension: Historical Materials
The leaf rust, stripe rust, powdery mildew, tan spot, Septoria leaf blotch and occasionally stem rust comprise the primary foliar disease of wheat in the central Great Plains. In southeast and south central Nebraska, leaf and stripe rusts, powdery mildew and Septoria leaf blotch are the most common and important foliar diseases. Tan spot predominates in the dryland wheat-fallow-wheat or ecofallow cropping systems found in the west central, southwest and Panhandle areas of Nebraska.
This NebFact discusses the treatment criteria, profitability of treatment, and the treatment products and timing of managing foliar diseases of winter wheat with fungicides.

G98-1364 Feeding Children Ages 2 To 5, H. Darlene Martin
University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension: Historical Materials
This NebGuide defines nutritional needs and healthy eating patterns for children ages 2 to 5.
Children Grow at Their Own Rate
Children move though growth spurts throughout childhood. Usually, a child will grow about 2 1/2 inches and gain about four or five pounds each year between the ages of 2 and 5. By 15 months old, most children have developed enough fine motor skills to feed themselves without help, if allowed to do so. Appetites vary with young children as well as adults. Parents and caregivers need to help promote a healthy pattern of eating rather than using controlling …

Ec97-825 Pinto And Great Northern Bean Prices: Historical Trends And Seasonal Patterns, Chyi-Lyi (Kathleen) Liang, Dillon M. Feuz, R.G. Taylor
University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension: Historical Materials
Dry edible beans, while not a major crop nationally, are an important crop in the Nebraska Panhandle and scattered regions in Colorado, California, Idaho, Michigan, North Dakota, and Wyoming. Lacking widespread cultivation and national prominence as a cash crop, edible bean prices receive little national attention.
The goal of this extension circular is to provide a basic price analysis for Pinto and Great Northern beans, and to show what happened in their prices over time.

University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension: Historical Materials
Roses are one of the most versatile and exciting plant groups to use in landscape compositions. There are rose cultivars (varieties) adapted for almost any garden site or landscape purpose, including formal beds and perennial borders, arbors, trellises, hedges, ground covers, steep banks, edging, accent, specimen plants, and as patio or tub plants.
The most common rose types are hybrid teas, floribundas, grandifloras, and climbers. More people are becoming familiar with the so-called "old fashioned" or shrub roses. Many of these are well-adapted to Nebraska and to water-conserving landscapes.

G74-186 Cannas, Donald E. Janssen, Don Steinegger
University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension: Historical Materials
Cannas are quick growing, vigorous ornamental plants with heavy foliage and large flowers.
Flower colors range from dark red to light green. Leaf colors can be reddish-purple, bronze or green. They are used most effectively for bedding plants in public parks and larger home grounds where they can be planted in front of taller shrubbery and viewed from a distance. Their vigor and size make them less desirable for planting in restricted areas.

Rb31-253 Variety Tests Of Oats, Barley, And Spring Wheat, T.A. Kiesselbach, W.E. Lyness
University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension: Historical Materials
The use of superior varieties is of first importance in the production of spring small grains. The comparative merits of the different crops and their available varieties may be best determined through tests extending over a period of years. Tests of oats, barley, and spring wheat have been made on the Experiment Station Farm of the Nebraska College of Agriculture at Lincoln.
The plan has been to have these variety trials include the most promising sorts obtainable from Nebraska and other states. Most of the varieties grown have originated in the breeding experiments of various state and federal experiment stations. …
