Communication is an essential component of patient satisfaction, which can be especially challenging in patients with neurobehavioral symptoms. As an effective form of communication, Patient Welcome Letter (PWL) should be designed in a way to cover a wide range of literacy. We designed a PWL for our Huntington Disease (HD) clinic using readability and suitability measures. Of the 80 patients that received the PWL, 47 filled out the survey. A majority of patients (>90%) found the PWL clear, understandable, and well-organized. The PWL was deemed valuable overall by 91.4% of participants.

Clinical Issue
Heart failure claims one in four lives of those diagnosed each year. The term Guideline Directed Medication Therapy (GDMT) represents optimal medication therapy as defined by the American College of Cardiology Foundation and American Heart Association. Appropriate quadruple therapy results in an estimated 73% relative reduction in mortality over a two-year time span (Greene & Khan, 2021). However, there is a gap in proper GDMT stemming from suboptimal initiation and/or titration in the outpatient setting.

Background: Type 1 diabetes is one of the most common chronic diseases in childhood. Optimal school nurse and staff education is critical to creating a safe learning environment and influencing long term outcomes of students with type 1 diabetes. The purpose of this project was to develop a virtual continuing education diabetes management course for school health workers to improve their knowledge of diabetes management and evaluate the effectiveness of the learning platform.

Objective: Rural residency rotations have played a significant role in encouraging surgical residents to pursue a career in a rural community. This study reviews the resident caseload of an otolaryngology residency rural rotation in comparison with a traditional primary university-based urban location.

Methods: The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) case log system was used to review cases logged by residents during their rural rotations from July 2017 to December 2018. Case log data were compared with a matched resident of similar training experience on the university service during the same time period.

Background: Fall rates continue to be a significant problem in health care facilities despite all the research and tool kits created to prevent falls. Hospitals that have successfully reduced fall rates find it challenging to sustain a reduction in the fall rates. During hospitalizations, 3%-20% of patients fall, with 30%-50% resulting in injury (Joint Commission, [JC], 2015).

Network leads will describe efforts to respond to network participant and funder/stakeholder needs to deepen the intervention and set strategic goals for the continuous quality improvement process. This includes creating a strategic plan, impact framework and rubric to assess the readiness of an organization to participate. Additional items include advanced Methods trainings and a professional learning community. Chronic wounds that have failed to heal after 3 months of appropriate wound care affect approximately 6.5 million people in the US with a prevalence of 1% and costs estimated at $25 billion per year. Medical students currently receive limited wound care training, yet to effectively manage chronic wounds, providers must both understand the biology of healing, and also remain up-to-date with wound care guidelines published by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ).
