The Effect Of Formal Mentorship Programs On Nurse Faculty Retention: An Integrative Review, Lisa Livingston
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
The nursing shortage has been a hot topic for decades, and literature supports a need to address this issue. Although faculty are critical to educating the nurses of the future, the shortage has impacted nurse faculty numbers as well. Nursing shortages are predicted to increase over the next decade. Evidenced-based interventions are critical to help sustain the nursing workforce. This integrative review highlights the importance of formal mentorship programs for new nurse faculty as a retention strategy for use by administrators of schools of nursing.

Objectives
The goals of this study were to characterize clinical coordinators compared to other Physician Assistant (PA) faculty, and investigate factors associated with intent to leave their position, institution, and academia in the U.S.
Methods
This was a secondary analysis of data obtained from the 2019 Physician Assistant Education Association (PAEA) Faculty and Directors Survey. We examined bivariate associations with faculty role and conducted multiple logistic regression to identify predictors of intent to leave among clinical directors.

Assessment Of Factors Affecting Dropout Intentions During The First Year In A Modeling School, Mauro Echeverri
FIU Electronic Theses and Dissertations
To date, there has been little research done on student dropout rates in modeling schools. This quantitative study utilizes applied research methods to analyze 138 female students in STAGE, a modeling school, where most students are between the ages of 11 and 18 years old. This study aims to examine why students drop out during their first year of study. The model utilized in this research integrates variables derived from Vincent Tito’s theory of departure, in addition to other variables not included in this theory like the parental support impact on extracurricular activities. Correlations analyses were used to assess the …

Strategies To Retain Call Center Employees, Michele Boston
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Call center executives who lack effective strategies to retain employees face a disruption in service, employee performance and productivity, as well as an increase in operational expenses. Ineffective retention strategies can negatively impact call centers by increasing cost, decreasing talent quality and loss of the customer experience. Grounded in Herzberg’s motivator-hygiene theory, the purpose of this multiple case study was to explore employee retention strategies that call center executives use to maintain employees within their organizations. Data were collected from semistructured interviews, company documents, and physical artifacts. The interview participants comprised five call center executives, managers, or team leaders in …

UNLV Theses, Dissertations, Professional Papers, and Capstones
Hiring part-time faculty in higher education is beneficial for both institutions and the part-time faculty member. Particularly during times of budget cuts, institutions turn to part-time faculty. However, it is important for institutions to create a positive working environment for part-time faculty in order to ensure that the use of part-time faculty does not create adverse effects on student learning and institutions can retain their faculty as either part-time or assist in their transition into full-time teaching positions. Using the conceptual frameworks of role conflict and ambiguity, working conditions, morale, job satisfaction, and intent to leave, this study aimed to …
Factors Influencing The Retention Of Women Faculty In Stem Disciplines., Carrie J. Christensen
Factors Influencing The Retention Of Women Faculty In Stem Disciplines., Carrie J. Christensen
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Low numbers of women faculty in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) disciplines continues to be a concern in higher education. Even though completion of STEM degrees by women has increased in many disciplines, increases in the number of women faculty have not been seen. Additionally, women continue to leave faculty positions at twice the rate of men. In order to remain globally competitive, the US needs to retain a diverse STEM professoriate. This dissertation examined the factors influencing the retention of women faculty in STEM disciplines and their over-representation in non-research intensive institutions. The analysis was broken into two …
