Ergonomics In Esports: A Video Training Series For Esports Athletes, Duy Do, Steven M. Gerardi, Branden Singleton
Ergonomics In Esports: A Video Training Series For Esports Athletes, Duy Do, Steven M. Gerardi, Branden Singleton
Spring 2024 Virtual OTD Capstone Symposium
Electronic sports, also known as esports, refers to organized and competitive video gaming against other players or teams. Unlike traditional sports, esports is sedentary, with athletes spending several hours daily seated at their gaming stations. Additionally, esports athletes lack the knowledge of ergonomic hazards and how to mitigate occupational overuse syndromes and mental health challenges. The purpose of this project was to create a video training series from an occupational therapy perspective to educate esports athletes on the ergonomic hazards of esports to improve participation, occupational performance, and quality of life of esports athletes.
Passive Vs. Active Wearable Technology Monitoring Trunk Flexion In Elementary Teachers, Bailey Jose
Passive Vs. Active Wearable Technology Monitoring Trunk Flexion In Elementary Teachers, Bailey Jose
Theses and Dissertations
The objective of this study was to assess the biomechanical and subjective measures of elementary school teachers while wearing active and/or passive wearable devices during the average workday. Five elementary school teachers wore a harness that held an Upright GO 2 posture tracking device and a Vicon Blue Trident sensor on the participant's upper back for two school days. Haptic feedback was on for one day and off for the other. Data from the Vicon wearable was analyzed to determine participants’ trunk flexion severity, frequency, and duration. Surveys were used to determine perceived exertion and perception of wearable technology. This …
An Exploratory Study Of Ergonomics In College Students, Wesley Ryan Tinker
An Exploratory Study Of Ergonomics In College Students, Wesley Ryan Tinker
Murray State Theses and Dissertations
Abstract
This study aimed to examine the relationship between poor ergonomic conditions and student physiological discrepancies. This examination provided great insight into students’ daily experiences and concerns for their futures. The methodology used for this study was quantitative as two source data sets were collected and analyzed. The tool REBA was used to measure the specific body angles while students sat working. A survey yielded great results, giving the students an opportunity to subjectively choose options.
This exploratory study allowed the researcher to use quantitative data to answer this study’s research questions. The research questions asked from this study were …
Implementing An Injury Prevention Program And Its Impact On Warehouse Operations, Michael E. Chapman
Implementing An Injury Prevention Program And Its Impact On Warehouse Operations, Michael E. Chapman
Education Dissertations and Projects
The implementation of an injury prevention program in the industrial and supply chain setting provides a great challenge within the emerging world of ergonomics and human factors engineering with limited peer-reviewed resources to guide organizational leadership. Building a program that focuses on education, individualistic behavior, and ergonomic engineering has the implications for reducing reported work-related injuries and work-related workers compensation cases and increasing overall workplace production. As provided in the case for ACME (pseudonym), work-related injuries and work-related musculoskeletal disorders were focused on to improve the overall health and well-being of warehouse workers. Concentrating on education and process improvement, with …
