For decades, U.S. higher education enrollments have been stratified with students from wealthier households consistently attending postsecondary institutions at higher rates than low-income students. The disparity in postsecondary participation rates by family income is a systemic issue (M. J. Bailey & Dynarski, 2011), meaning the phenomenon is the result of a combination of factors within society rather than one factor alone. New teachers are supported extensively while participating in teacher training programs and during the first years of teaching. During this time, there are opportunities for the new teacher to explore their self-identity and determine how they will interact with students in the classroom. Logic models are defined as visual diagrams that help to explain the theory of change for a program. Over the years the logic model has become a common tool for educational programs who seek to apply for and obtain grant funding. The purpose of this study was focused on the various perceived impacts created by the expansion to a four-tier teacher performance evaluation rating model which would inform educational leaders in the State of Illinois. By studying the experiences of principals in two other states who previously underwent the same change, Florida and Massachusetts, a number of insights were found that can serve to inform Illinois.

The intended impacts found from expanding the performance ratings included the promotion of teacher growth, recognition of teacher excellence, promotion of teacher remediation, and support in dismissing ineffective teachers. The unintended impacts that were found …

The purpose of this study is to assess student opinion of the Connections Program. Connections is a program offered to freshmen at Wenatchee High School to assist students with the transition from middle school. This program offers block schedule as well as curriculum and technology integration, job shadows and community service projects. In order to assess the program and offer improvements, two populations of Connections students were surveyed and data were analyzed. The literature related to integration of technology and curriculum, job shadows and community service projects was reviewed.
