Exploring Asian International Teaching Assistants’ Experiences In The U.S. Tesol Teacher Education: A Raciolinguistic Perspective, Yangyang Zhu, Woongsik Choi, Tirtha Karki

Asian international teaching assistants (ITAs) in U.S. teacher education experience a range of challenges preparing predominantly white preservice teachers (PSTs). Few studies have examined the teaching experiences of Asian ITAs who also serve as teacher educators in a predominantly white institution (PWI). In this study, we, three Asian ITAs as well as TESOL teacher educators, used collaborative autoethnography to explore our experiences of preparing PSTs to teach multilingual learners at a large public U.S. midwestern PWI. The Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (2004) mandates that parental input be considered when making educational decisions for children with disabilities, including in physical education. However, parents of children with disabilities often report suboptimal communication experiences with physical educators. The purpose of the current study was to examine if the initiation of a parent–physical educator relationship is influenced by whether students have a disability or not. Purpose

Physical inactivity is a health concern for children and adolescents with neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) as it directly increases their risk of developing various health problems. Evidence on differences in accelerometer-assessed physical activity between children and adolescents with and without NDDs is inconclusive. And age- and body mass index (BMI)-related effects on physical activity remain unclear.

Methods

Public schools face significant challenges, including rising student behavioral needs, chronic absenteeism, and high rates of teacher burnout. These issues are interconnected with and inextricably linked to a need for effective, evidence-based behavioral supports. Educators frequently enter the field lacking the necessary skills and training to manage complex student behavior, often resulting in a reliance on punitive practices that exacerbate problems.

University students often intend to exercise regularly but fail to translate intention into action. The present study tested which post-intentional processes distinguish successful from unsuccessful intenders in self-reported regular leisure-time moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) enactment. Chinese undergraduates from 10 universities completed a three-wave survey administered at roughly two-week intervals. Habit automaticity was assessed at Wave 1, intention together with action planning and coping planning at Wave 2, and self-reported regular-exercise status at Wave 3. Because the dependent variable was assessed using a single stage-based self-report item, the findings should be interpreted as explaining self-reported regular-exercise status rather than objectively measured …

The quality of pre-service teacher mentoring depends not only on program structures but on the dispositions mentors bring to the relationship. This practice brief presents a framework of three mentor dispositions (collaborative, supportive, and flexible/open) that support positive experiences for pre-service teachers during field placements. The framework was developed through a systematic review of Teacher Residency Program (TRP) literature and informed by interviews with pre-service teachers in a local TRP. For each disposition, the brief identifies specific mentor actions and illustrates them through the voices of pre-service teachers describing their experiences as mentees. This submission presents a place-based curiosity walk lesson designed to engage 5^th-grade students in investigating how the Buffalo River shapes the land and supports like through processes such as water flow, erosion, deposition, and riparian ecosystem interactions. Using the bridge as a safe observation platform, the lesson engages students in documenting seasonal indicators such as snowmelt runoff, rising water levels, sediment movement, and ice breakup; phenomena that parallel Minnesota’s long-standing practice of tracking lake “ice-out” dates. University course scheduling is one of the most complex optimization problems in higher education institutions. With universities growing in size and offering a broad spectrum of majors and disciplines, the number of possible course scheduling combinations increases exponentially, rendering traditional ways of scheduling ineffective.

Although operations research has extensively studied automated scheduling algorithms, there has been limited investigations into the organization readiness of academic departments to implement such systems. Tall fescue (Lolium arundinaceum (Schreb.) S.J. Darbyshire) infected with toxin‑producing fungi can induce fescue toxicosis in grazing ruminants, reducing performance and altering forage intake. Chemical compounds in red clover (Trifolium pratense), such as biochanin A, have been proposed to mitigate these effects by improving palatability and blood vessel relaxation. This study examined whether the inclusion of ground red clover (GRC), either alone or in combination with hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) and polyethylene glycol (PEG), affected voluntary diet selection in lambs offered toxic fescue. Purpose: This comparative study qualitatively explores how organizational leaders in the United States and Africa apply transformational leadership to implement Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives, focusing on the challenges they face, the leadership strategies they employ, and how effective strategies in each region might be adapted for cross-regional improvement.  Methodology: Using a qualitative comparative case study design grounded in Bass and Riggio's (2006) four dimensions of transformational leadership, the study drew on semi-structured interviews with 12 organizational leaders (six from the United States and six from Africa) including executive, DEI-specific leadership roles across nonprofit, private, and public sectors. Purpose: This phenomenological study explored mid-level managers’ perceptions of the impact of organizational environments fostering recognition, empowerment practices, and psychological safety on sustaining their organizational commitment when economic instability impeded leadership succession planning, employee upskilling, and staff retention. Additionally, the study identified sustainable, nonfinancial organizational practices that influenced participants’ decisions to remain with their organizations during periods of economic instability.

Methodology: Grounded in Organizational Support Theory and Organizational Commitment Theory, the study included eight mid-level managers representing public, private, nonprofit, and educational organizations. Students’ interest, self-efficacy, and belonging are considered essential for classroom learning, as each has been shown to promote sustained engagement and school achievement. However, our review of the literature suggested that research on interest, self-efficacy, and belonging is largely siloed. To address practitioner questions about supporting classroom learning by working with the three variables, we added a mixed-method pilot study to the review process. Pilot participants were Black, middle-school-age youth living in a low-income community, who were enrolled in a five-week, inquiry-informed science workshop facilitated by a Black professor.
