Fiscal Decentralization And Education Index; Evidence From Punjab Pakistan, Noor Ahmed Dec 2024

Fiscal Decentralization And Education Index; Evidence From Punjab Pakistan, Noor Ahmed

CBER Conference

Disparities in the distribution of public services have persisted throughout Pakistan's history. Current research on regional development has stressed the need of evaluating human development phenomena using spatial models such as density, locality, and distance. The study investigates how fiscal decentralization influences the education index at the district level in Pakistan's Punjab province. The research is based on the education index, which has five components. The Principal Component Analysis (PCA) integrates these variables to provide a final education index. The study's findings revealed that the significant positive effects of fiscal decentralization on the education index at the district level depend …

An Evaluation Of Features Extracted From Facial Images In The Context Of Accurate Age Estimation⋆, Malik Awais Khan, Aurelia Power, Peter Corcoran, Christina Thorpe Dec 2024

An Evaluation Of Features Extracted From Facial Images In The Context Of Accurate Age Estimation⋆, Malik Awais Khan, Aurelia Power, Peter Corcoran, Christina Thorpe

Conference papers

Age estimation by face image recognition can be used in numerous ways with regression models to manage access control, improve security, and guarantee the protection of children online. The approaches used for predicting age—including data selection, cleaning techniques, feature extraction, algorithm choice, and hyperparameter tuning—often struggles with generalization. Furthermore, a lot of methods neglect to specifically address how extracted face features might be used for prediction. To address the lack of racial diversity we acquired a dataset consisting of different races from literature. We also examined the ability of local, global and hybrid facial features to predict ages. Two variants …

The Effect Of Variable Learning Contexts On Novel Word Retention In Adults, Emily A. Badoni Dec 2024

The Effect Of Variable Learning Contexts On Novel Word Retention In Adults, Emily A. Badoni

Theses and Dissertations

This study investigated the impact of decontextualized learning on memory recall and retention within virtual reality (VR) environments. Forty-six healthy young adult participants, both male and female, were randomly assigned to either a consistent VR learning condition (n = 23) or a diverse VR learning condition (n = 23). Both groups were exposed to the same set of 30 nonwords and their definitions across three learning phases. The participants in the consistent condition remained in the same VR environment throughout the study, while the participants in the diverse condition experienced three different VR environments. Immediate and delayed post-tests were conducted …
