How Can Personalised Feedback In Assignments Help Address Gender Balance In Computing Education?, Alina Berry
Academic Posters Collection
Personalised feedback is frequently used in computing assessments in higher education. Research has shown that personalised feedback positively influences persistence in computer science. Computing and related disciplines are known to show relatively low retention rates. This includes female students, who are strongly underrepresented in computing disciplines, so they can be considered as a particularly important group for retention-driven initiatives. Female science students are more likely to act upon feedback, and personalised feedback has increased intentions to persist among female top performing students in computing. Hence, providing personalised feedback can be considered as a promising gender initiative that has a potential …

Early Childhood Education
Research in child development demonstrates that early childhood experiences, especially in the first 1,000 days of life, lay the foundation for future growth and development. In Indonesia, however, early childhood education programs traditionally focus on children aged 4-6 years. In response to this concern, Tanoto Foundation, through its Siapkan Generasi Anak Berprestasi (SIGAP) program, seeks to ensure optimal development and school readiness children in Indonesia. One of the key strategies of SIGAP is the establishment of Rumah Anak SIGAP centers, a model of a child development centre that provides parenting training and early stimulation services targeted to children aged 0-3 …

Adult Music Education: Negotiating New Musical Learning Identities In Adulthood, Marian Mcrory
Doctoral
This study presented an investigation into the field of adult music education. The inspiration for this research stemmed from a perceived need for a uniquely adult learning programme which evolved into two programmes, Allegro for Adults I and Allegro for Adults II. The concept of this programme also involved the adult learning environment which was based in a music conservatoire in a university. Diversity in the curricular content was an important consideration and although the pedagogical approach was accelerated in nature, gaining knowledge and understanding underpinned the skills-based and compositional elements.

Money Matters To All Students, George Padilla, Michelle H. Abrego
Money Matters To All Students, George Padilla, Michelle H. Abrego
Organization and School Leadership Faculty Publications
The question whether money matters in education strikes at the foundation of America’s democracy—an educated electorate. Despite decades of evidence that money does matter, the question still remains unanswered among many and even answered to the contrary of the evidence. It is important to fully understand that money does matter in American education, American lives, and America’s future and to increase awareness of political and social factors that undermine that money matters for all students to learn.
