Lexical, Semantic And Typological Aspects Of The Translation, Sevara Khamidova May 2022

Lexical, Semantic And Typological Aspects Of The Translation, Sevara Khamidova

Mental Enlightenment Scientific-Methodological Journal

The article studies the typological aspects in the translation and lexico-semantic transformations used by the translator in the process of working with texts containing culturally loaded vocabulary. The main stages on the way to achieving this goal are the following tasks: 1) to identify the theoretical approaches to the interpretation of the concept of "lexico-semantic transformations" existing in modern linguistics; 2) to study the features of the transformation of culturally marked vocabulary in translations from Uzbek into English; 3) to identify the main difficulties that a translator, as a linguistic personality, faces in the process of working on a text …

The Usage Of Transformation In Literary Translation, Gulilola Khurshid Kizi Boltaeva, Hakima Abdukodir Kizi Botirova

Mental Enlightenment Scientific-Methodological Journal

The current article is devoted to the usage of transformation in the translation of literary texts. The process of transition from indirect to direct translation has begun in our country. We hope that this effort will provide Uzbek readers with an opportunity to learn more about the masterpieces of world literature, as well as prepare the necessary material for analysis and research in the near future. Finally, it should be noted that during the centuries-old history of our country, great literary, historical, moral, philosophical, scientific and religious works have been translated into Uzbek. Translated literature appears and develops side by …

Improving Student Knowledge Transfer Between Mathematics And Engineering Courses Through Structured Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: A Summit-P Initiative, Laura Ellwein Fix, Afroditi Filippas, Maila Brucal-Hallare, Rebecca Segal Jan 2022

Improving Student Knowledge Transfer Between Mathematics And Engineering Courses Through Structured Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: A Summit-P Initiative, Laura Ellwein Fix, Afroditi Filippas, Maila Brucal-Hallare, Rebecca Segal

Journal of Mathematics and Science: Collaborative Explorations

Student learning across STEM disciplines has been shown to increase with greater integration of applications in mathematics courses. One challenge of this effort is that identical constructs are often presented differently in the partner disciplines than in the mathematics courses. This leads to student confusion and an inability to transfer critical knowledge in their disciplinary courses, even for students who have mastered the mathematical paradigms. An interdisciplinary team at VCU consisting of mathematics and engineering faculty has worked to improve the knowledge transfer required for the integration of applications in the Differential Equations curriculum. This work is part of the …

Making Upper-Level Math Accessible To A Younger Audience, Allyson Roller

WWU Honors College Senior Projects

Symmetry is all around us. It appears on fabrics and on the buildings that surround us. Believe it or not, there is actually quite a bit of math that goes into generating these patterns, which are known as the seven frieze patterns. In my work, I explain how each unique pattern is generated using different types of symmetries. I also created a PDF of a children’s book about frieze patterns to ensure that people of all ages have the opportunity to learn about seemingly complex patterns.
