While Southwestern Oklahoma State University students have been taking end-of-semester finals tests on the Weatherford campus, the university's live Bulldog mascot has undergone two surgeries caused by his love of snooping around and getting into things he shouldn't be doing.

Evelina (Nina) Cross received her PhD from Texas Woman’s University and then joined the faculty at Louisiana State University. While at LSU, she taught and directed the dietetic internship. Her research and many of her publications were in the area of school food service. In addition, she served three years as the first National Food Service Management Institute Scholar. During this time she worked with the research arm of the Institute to develop a financial model for school food service. The generation of jobs, creation of wealth and satisfaction of needs are only a portion of the influence that organizations have in a community. Likewise, organizations are increasingly engaging in social responsible initiatives to respond to the concerns of their various stakeholders (Aguilera, Rupp, Williams, & Ganapathi, 2007). The purpose of this study was to determine whether there was a difference between the family structure and academic achievement of African American students attending rural and urban schools in North Carolina. The purpose was also to analyze how family structure and the academic achievement scores of ninth grade African American male and African American female students who attend a rural and urban high school in North Carolina. Finally, the purpose was to determine whether there was a significant difference between family structure, academic achievement and gender of African American rural and urban high school students.

Research shows that plagiarism is a problem not only for English language learners but also for students whose first language is English. With the Internet and ease of copying and pasting information into a word document, plagiarism in on the rise (Maslen, 2003). Oftentimes, students are not aware they are doing something wrong. American students come into college with the cultural conditioning of knowing (perhaps not fully grasping) American academic standards (Gu & Brooks, 2007).
