This paper reports on a two-year funded seminar series in the UK. This highlighted two distinct ‘locations’ of spirituality and the need to recognise different ‘ways of knowing’ when working in this field. It also raised questions about what it might mean to research spiritually.

This study of an organization-wide process of collective critical reflection discusses the challenges and possibilities that the staff of a multi-cultural community center faced as they attempted to not only reflect on, but collectively respond to contesting perspectives on their work within social environments shaped by institutionalized relations of power.

This study attempts to deconstruct this myth by investigating the volunteering experience of Chinese immigrants in Vancouver.

This paper reports on the first stage of an ongoing research project: how three Canadian adult education programs, which share the common mission of providing access to the study of the liberal arts for non-traditional adult learners, have evolved over the past few years. We consider both the commonalities and variances across the programs to understand how each iteration’s socio-political context has informed their interpretation of the common mission.

Based on a study conducted with young activists, this paper discusses social movement learning and the personal and social transformations it fosters. The author presents a framework that broadens conventional interpretations of political economy by adding patriarchy and white supremacy to capitalism, as systems of domination, and as points of analysis.

Older Adults’ Engagement With Further And Higher Education In The West Of Scotland: Tracking Educational Journeys, Brian Findsen, Sarah Mccullough

In this qualitative study, the motivations and trigger events for learning of West of Scotland older adults are explored. The range of purposes for formal learning in later adulthood is broader than most conventional typologies would suggest and work-related motives are shown to be very strong, linked to on-going vocational aspirations.
