Research shows that access to postsecondary education makes an enormous difference in the employability of people with disabilities. This brief focuses on the rehabilitation outcomes of people who received education supports from Vocational Rehabilitation agencies.

Engineering Management and Systems Engineering Faculty Research & Creative Works
The recruitment and the retention of female undergraduate and graduate students into engineering courses is discussed. A similar challenge lies in recruiting female faculty member from the limited pool of candidates in several fields at most universities. It is found that about half the females who were hired did not stay at the university. It is suggested that programs should be introduced to encourage mentoring and career development as such improvements would benefit all faculty members both female and male.

Ten years ago higher education scholars predicted a major faculty turnover in the late 1990s and into the twenty-first centurya prediction based on demographic data on an aging faculty. The turnover is under way, accelerated by early retirement policies. Currently blocks of faculty positions are opening up at regional colleges and universities, and new faculty are being hired in groups, rather than a few at a time. In larger universities, the impact of this kind of hiring is felt most acutely at the department level. At small institutions, the effects can be institution wide. n 1999 the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) was commissioned by the Department of Education, Training and Youth Affairs (DETYA) to develop a test of generic skills which could be administered at university entry and exit level. Following consultation with university representatives and other stakeholders, written communication, critical thinking, problem solving and interpersonal understandings were selected as the components of the initial Graduate Skills Assessment (GSA).
