Introduction: The superintendents of several public school systems in East Tennessee met during the summer of 1959 to form an organization for the purpose of improving public schools through cooperative study and research. This organization was named "Public Schools for Cooperative Research" and soon came to be known as "PSCR." The teaching of physics in the high school has been modified over the years to meet the changing needs of students and to include the developments of modern times. Together with these changes there has been in recent years much controversy concerning the purpose and value of laboratory work that accompanies the course. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between achievement in high-school physics and the amount of laboratory work that may be included.

The purpose of this study was to investigate scorer reliability of the Discomfort-Relief Quotient (DRQ) method of scoring applied to the Thematic Apperception Test (TAT). The purpose of the study was to determine what combination of activities and services constitutes an adequate guidance program. Specifically, the study examined the following three aspects of a guidance program: (1) the role of the staff: principal, coordinator of guidance services, counselor, and the classroom teachers, in providing services and activities of the guidance program; (2) the relative importance of various guidance activities and services; (3) organizational principles for an adequate guidance program. The study was made to ascertain classroom teachers' ideas on an ideal guidance program and in response to the problem cited in the introduction.

The purpose of this study is to survey former students of East Valley High School (formerly Moxee Consolidated High School) who terminated their education prior to graduation during the school years 1956-1957 to 1959-1960 inclusive in order to determine the reasons for their withdrawal.
