Relationship Among Teachers' Personality, Leadership Style, And Efficacy Of Classroom Management, Michael Clyde Burkett

In this study, research examined a possible relationship between a teacher’s leadership style, personality, experience, certification, and efficacy of classroom management. Six hundred high school teachers were given questionnaires to complete to report their leadership, personality, and classroom management preferences. These teachers were chosen by a random online search for schools in southern Mississippi. Of the questionnaires sent to the teachers, 151 (25%) were returned and analyzed.

Three main instruments were used to conduct this study. For leadership, a teacher’s leadership style was measured using the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire. While the instrument measures transformational, transactional, and laissez-faire leadership styles, only …

This study investigated the statistical significance of student trust next to the well-tested constructs of personality and motivation to determine whether trust is a significant predictor of course achievement in college math courses. Participants were 175 students who were taking undergraduate math courses in an urban public university. This study examined the interrelatedness of personality attributes related to lifestyle constructs as defined by Adler (Ansbacher & Ansbacher, 1956), personality constructs for career success as defined by Hogan (1983), and transformational leadership style as defined by the Full Range of Leadership model (FRL) (Bass, 1990). Recent studies have suggested that certain personality attributes may be consistent with successful leadership ability (Bass, 1990; Hogan, Curphy, & Hogan, 1994). This country is suffering from a values vacuum, clearly evidenced by the increase in youth violence, as revealed in this researcher's review of literature in Chapter 2. The purpose of this project was to facilitate elementary school educators in their critical need for the implementation of character education in their classrooms. Qualitative interviews of college students with disabilities indicated that students were reporting significant discrimination and disability stigma effects. Until recently, however, no formal instruments had been developed specifically to measure disability stigma in college students. The purpose of this study was to develop the Postsecondary Student Survey of Disability-Related Stigma (SSDRS), a Likert-type scale that measured amount of perceived stigma in college students with disabilities. The SSDRS was patterned after similar instruments developed to measure race-related stigma and other forms of perceived social discrimination, and was designed to be administered through disability support service offices. The Relationship Between Observable Teaching Effectiveness Behaviors And Personality Types In A Sample Of Urban Middle School Teachers, Jeaneen Kaye Talbott

Fifty-one middle school teacher volunteers in an urban, Midwestern school district were surveyed to determine their personality and temperament type using the 93 forced choice question Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) Self-Scorable Form M. Each question contained two options and each question was weighted “1”. Two administrators rated those same teachers' teaching effectiveness using the 34 question Teacher Effectiveness Survey (TES). There were three subscales on the TES; instructional performance, professional development, and leadership skills. The Overall score included all three subscales' mean scores. A 5-point Likert scale with 1 as “Poor” and 5 as “Excellent” was used on the TES. …

The purpose of the present study is to examine the relationship between teachers' perception of school climate and their personality traits. The instruments used to gather the data are the Revised Organizational Climate Description Questionnaire ( OCDQ-RE ) and the NEO-Five Factor Inventory ( NEO-FFI ). Both instruments were administered to 290 Hispanic, Mexican-American, elementary teachers during team or faculty meetings. Exploratory and confirmatory analyses are used in the present study. The mean, standard error of mean, variance, skewness, standard error of skewness, kurtosis, and standard error of kurtosis are reported. This study examined the relationship between elementary teachers and special education teachers and their preferred MBTI type. The sample consisted of 49 elementary teachers (25 regular classroom and 24 special education) within the public school system in Lincoln and Warren counties in Missouri. The subjects were all Caucasian females ranging in age from 22 to 52 years with an educational level ranging from Bachelors degree to Masters degree plus. This study examines the relationship between personality traits as identified by the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and transformational leadership as measured by The Nature of School Leadership. The subjects were 74 North Carolina public school elementary principals. The principals completed the MBTI. Principals also provided pertinent demographic information. Selected teachers in each school were asked to give their perception of the principal as a transformational leader by completing The Nature of School Leadership. A Study Of Reliability Of The Aspell Enneagram Inventory, Gwen C. Leeper

A reliability study of the Aspell Enneagram Inventory (Revised and Extended Version) was administered on two separate occasions to fifty-nine volunteer teachers and staff personnel at a secondary school in West Texas. Twenty males and thirty-nine females of various ages participated in the study. Results were mixed for the correlations obtained between the two test administrations. Per item reliability was low with a correlation mean of 0.55. Although 70% of the participants obtained results that were similar, the correlations were not high enough to be considered reliable. Inconsistencies within the results indicate that further research needs to be done.
