Museum Studies In Collection Management, Hugh H. Genoways
University of Nebraska State Museum: Programs Information
First paragraph:
At the workshop on "Collection Resources for the 1990's" held in Washington, D.C., October 1988, one of the identified needs for institutions was for additional trained collection management staff (Hoagland and Mabee, ASC Newsletter 16(6): 9, 1988). There are few academic programs that provide training in the management of biological, geological, and anthropological collections. Because this is an identified need for the 1990's, the question arises: "Are we able to meet this need?" and, if we are not currently in a position to do so, "What must be done in the future to meet this need?"

A Model Of School Managerial Control : The Systematic Analysis Of Managerial Behaviors, Processes, And Indicators, Ira Elliot Bogotch
A Model Of School Managerial Control : The Systematic Analysis Of Managerial Behaviors, Processes, And Indicators, Ira Elliot Bogotch
FIU Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The theoretical construct of control has been defined as necessary (Etzioni, 1965), ubiquitous (Vickers, 1967), and on-going (E. Langer, 1983). Empirical measures, however, have not adequately given meaning to this potent construct, especially within complex organizations such as schools. Four stages of theory-development and empirical testing of school building managerial control using principals and teachers working within the nation's fourth largest district are presented in this dissertation as follows: (1) a review and synthesis of social science theories of control across the literatures of organizational theory, political science, sociology, psychology, and philosophy; (2) a systematic analysis of school managerial activities …

Healthy And Unhealthy Forms Of Religiousness Manifested By Psychotherapy Clients: An Empirical Investigation, P. Scott Richards, Steven A. Smith, Lanay F. Davis
Faculty Publications
This study investigated whether 49 Mormon psychotherapy clients and 51 Mormon nonclients differed on a number of religious and psychological variables. The data were analyzed using analysis of covariance, controlling for social desirability, education level, and occupation status. Clients scored higher than nonclients on shame and lower on existential well-being. There were no significant differences between clients and nonclients on religious orientation, religious wellbeing, moral reasoning, and guilt. Females scored much higher on guilt, and female clients scored much higher on shame; there were no other gender differences. Subjects showed a preference for Stage 4 moral reasoning, and 92% were …

Reading and writing in the content areas relates prior knowledge, classroom interaction, cooperative learning, vocabulary instruction, and questioning techniques. Children practice research skills by organizing information in a meaningful and practical manner. This month's In the Classroom column presents ways in which teachers can enhance their students' comprehension of content area topics by involving them in various classroom activities. Additional resources for content area reading and writing activities follow :

Are there turtle fan(atic)s on your holiday shopping list? Do you find yourself receiving terrapin-related gifts from friends and family who know of your passion for Logo? You are not alone. It seems a fondness for "pixelated" Logo turtles has engendered an attraction to the reptiles themselves for more than one Logo enthusiast. This month's column shares some non-electronic turtle resources.
