The University of Maine simply dominated games at times last season and there are plenty of reasons why 1995-96 can be a repeat performance. First, Cindy Blodgett, a 5-foot-9 guard, who finished 31st in the nation and second among first-year players in scoring, returns for three more years. She averaged 20.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.3 steals per game while earning Kodak District I All-American and North Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Year honors last season.

Optimism continues to grow within the University of Maine swimming and diving programs. Once again both squads have brought in impressive recruiting classes fortifying squads already bursting with talented swimmers and divers. The University of Maine softball team, coming off the best season in the program’s history, has high expectations for the 1995 season. The Black Bears look to build on last year’s success and mix in a batch of talented incoming first-year players for a solid 1995 campaign. UMaine’s goal this season is to defend its number one spot in the North Atlantic Conference and capture a second league championship.
