The purpose of this study is to explain the mechanics involved with a scheduling system which will reduce student schedule changes and promote a smoother start to the academic school year.
The study will not only trace the history of self-scheduling at Effingham High School beginning in 1975 but will outline the method used to continue a similar scheduling system at Greenville High School in 1978.
As a guidance counselor at Effingham High School starting in the school year of 1974, I was dissatisfied with the scheduling system. Not surprisingly, the other two guidance personnel plus most of the teaching …

A primary objective of the field experience consisted of conducting a feasibility study for the establishment of a Career Education Instructional Cooperative for the high schools within the Crawford Educational Service Region, Illinois.
Major employers, students in each Crawford County high school, and randomly selected parents of county high school students were surveyed as part of the study. The results indicated a need for skilled workers to fill a void in Crawford County businesses and industries. Projections were made by the employers surveyed to 1985. Employers favored the establishment of a Career Education Instructional Cooperative. Positive data were also retrieved …

A status survey of media in selected high school classrooms is the focus of this study. Questionnaires were sent to Spanish teachers in Region IV of the state of Illinois.
The purpose of the study was to gather data concerning the quantity, use, and adequacy of media as well as the selecting, funding, and housing of that media. Excluded from the study were software which accompany textbooks currently in use.
Quantity of media ranged from 0 to over 20. Tapes had the highest quantity with a median of 21, a mean of 17.31, and a mode of 20. Transparencies had …

The objective of this paper is to construct a handbook for conducting a mini course program in Kewanee High School. This handbook can be adopted to set up a mini course program in any educational environment. With only a little modification, a successful program may be set up in a larger or smaller school system. It can also be used as a model for a junior high school or grade school program.

During the 1976-77 school term a study to evaluate the Cissna Park, Unit Six high school occupational education program was undertaken with the cooperation of the administration, guidance counselor, citizens advisory council, and occupational teachers.
PURPOSE: The study was entered into in order to determine future goals and directions for the programs involved. The period of time in which the study was conducted showed declining enrollments in the school district as well as serious financial problems. As illustrated by the title, this field experience included two major areas: (1) an administrative internship and (2) the development of a high school curriculum guide and the updating of course descriptions for the author's school district.
The administrative internship was established for the purpose of giving the author as much first-hand administrative experience as possible. It involved the author (then a teacher at the high school) working during his preparation period each day in the high school office under the direction of the principal. School District 205 has erased a large portion of their videotaped library on advice of the district lawyer. This field study is a three-pronged effort: (1) to conduct a survey among district faculty to discover the attitudes toward the usefulness of a series of ten videotaped programs depicting excellent speech communication models performing in three basic areas--acting, interpretation, and public address, (2) to produce these ten programs and add them to the library, and (3) to survey selected groups of students to aquire their reactions to the tapes.

This field study was to help a student write relevant secondary science curricula that (l) may actually be used by the author; (2) used in training other teachers; (3) used as examples in other subjects; and (4) encourage research and innovations to meet changing educational processes. Each of the five selected secondary science curricula shows different development of specialization and adaptation. Aerospace is developed as a minicourse. Basic biology has fifteen units based on specific scientific concepts, with laboratory experiments, along with individualized research.
