The Role Of The Science Supervisor As Perceived By Elementary And Secondary Science Teachers, Thomas Graika

The problem that was considered in the study was whether the role of the science supervisor was perceived differently by secondary and elementary teachers of science.

A fifty-four item questionnaire was developed. The items on the questionnaire consisted of statements of tasks which a science supervisor could do, and the teachers were asked to respond on a scale of opinion if they considered this task a role of the science supervisor.

The sample represented five school systems in Iowa which employ a science supervisor. Questionnaires were sent to 156 secondary science teachers and 153 elementary teachers. Ninety-five of all the …

The use of inductive or inquiry techniques in the teaching of science has been emphasized. A possible technological aid to the inquiry process is the electronic computer. A review of the literature in this area led to the development of two program processors, one to produce simulated experiments, the other to generate problems for student use.

The first processor, SIM/G, can be used to produce tables or charts. Five sample programs were prepared to illustrate the use of the SIM/G processor. Directions for use of the processor have been given. Documentation has included both a complete verbal explanation and a …

Occupational Prestige Rankings And Future Occupational Expectations Of Iowa High School Seniors, Jackson Neal Baty

This study is an analysis of occupational prestige ratings of 3,122 Iowa high school seniors belonging to the class of 1970. They represented 90 percent of the seniors attending 21 randomly selected high schools, 18 of which can be categorized as public schools, two of which are parochial (Roman Catholic), and one of which is a university-connected laboratory school. There was one school (less than 250 students), one medium-size school (250-499 students), and one large school (500 or more students) in each of Iowa's seven congressional districts

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM It was the purpose of this study to record the developments in the Department of Industrial Arts and Technology at the University of Northern Iowa during the years from January 1957 through December 1968. The areas of research included: (1) faculty, (2) physical facilities, (3) academic offerings, (4) degree programs, (5) student enrollment and degrees granted, and (6) related services provided by the department.
