A Status Study Of The Counseling Services Programs In Selected Church-Related Small Colleges, Vivian Bowles

Masters Theses & Specialist Projects

Thirty-one selected church-related colleges with an average enrollment of fewer than 2000 students were surveyed regarding the status of their counseling service programs. The areas covered in the survey included the following: (1) a description of the counseling situation in each college; (2) the academic and professional background of the counselor; (3) the extent of the counselor's teaching responsibilities; (4) the adequacy of the counseling and clerical staff; (5) the role of the clergy-counselor; (6) the support accorded the counseling services; (7) the scope of counseling services rendered; (8) recommendations of the counselors regarding counseling services; and (9) the counselor's …

Counselor Opinion As A Predictor Of Academic Success For Entering College Freshmen, Billy Dicken

The purpose of this study was to determine if high school counselors' predictive opinions of freshman college academic success were reliable indicators of actual college academic success achieved by freshman students.

Eleven null hypotheses were tested which involved high school counselors' opinions of college freshman grade point average and actual college grade point average achieved by freshmen in regard to the following variables: (1) sex of the counselor, (2) high school location, (3) sex of the student, (4) high school size, and (5) high school accreditation. All except one of the null hypotheses were rejected at the .05 level of …

A Comparison Of The Intellectually Gifted, Average, And Below Average High School Subjects On The Guilford-Zimmerman Temperament Survey, Lyda Parker

The purpose of the study was to investigate the relationship between intellectual ability of 276 high school students and personality as measured by the Guilford-Zimmerman Temperament Survey (GZTS) factors. The 10 GZTS traits utilized were: General Activity, Restraint, Ascendance, Sociability, Emotional Stability, Objectivity, Friendliness, Thoughtfulness, Personal Relations and Masculinity. The study was designed to test for the relationship between three IQ groups (high, middle and low) and each of 10 GZTS personality factors. A multiple groups design was used, in which the three groups of subjects were blocked across intelligence. Ten one-way analyses of variance were performed to determine if …
