Teacher preparation programs prepare teacher candidates (TC) with clinically rich field experiences. These programs prepare teachers to teach groups of students that are culturally, racially, and linguistically diverse. The TCs that participated in this study were in the first semester of the elementary program and were concerned with an experience that would be remote. COVID-19 impacted the experiences of the TCs by removing the field component during the Fall 2020 semester. ABSTRACT The OER-Immersive Multimedia Materials Project aims at the design and development of Open Educational Resources (OER) in the classroom as a model to integrate community-based learning and undergraduate research in lower and upper-level courses of the Spanish Program at UNF. It specifically involves the design of immersive educational materials with a focus on Virtual Reality and reading accessibility. Diversity within higher education benefits students and institutions alike, creating a more relatable experience for students as well as a more beneficial work environment for faculty. While university student bodies are slowly beginning to represent the diversity in the communities which they serve, university faculty and staff have yet to catch up. This is especially the case with the administration at an institution’s highest levels. Eighty-three percent of college and university presidents are white (American Council on Education, 2017), and seventy-seven percent are male (Tarbutton, 2019).
