The emphasis of current policies has been on Internet connectivity, bridging the digital divide and raising awareness of ICT needs in the schools. As of January 2011, we are schedule to have dedicated Internet service of 1MB download and 256K upload per school. Every Albanian school with a headmaster will have this connectivity. The only schools that will be excluded are in those remote towns where five grades (1 through 5) are consolidated into a single class. It is unfair to exclude these students. D.I.S.C.O.V.E.R. the Future with Robotics, a state-funded grant that aims to foster collaboration between students from urban and suburban schools, is being conducted by Sacred Heart University’s Isabelle Farrington School of Education professors Maria Lizano-DiMare, Ed.D., and Antoinette Bruciati, Ph.D., in conjunction with educators from the Hall School and Region 16’s Laurel Ledge and Community schools. In creative partnerships, students designed, built and programmed their own working robots. In his first year as an instructor Jing'anTang was one of two professors honored with the Faculty Excellence Award given after a nomination by several University College students who were enrolled in his Business Policy course. Description of a fourteen week course taught by Michelle Loris, professor of English at Sacred Heart University. The course, titled Recent Ethnic American Fictions, introduced students to several concepts from contemporary literary theory. The theories included New Criticism, Deconstruction, Cultural Studies, New Historicism, and Feminist Theory. The assumption was that these concepts would give students the tools to become critical readers, which would then provide them with a deeper understanding of these multicultural novels and their particular cultural contexts.
