Teaching And Assessing College Stem Courses Online During Covid-19: Evidence-Based Strategies And Recommendations, Santanu De, Georgina Arguello

FDLA Journal

Since the devastating COVID-19 pandemic, most schools, colleges, and universities worldwide underwent a paradigm shift by transitioning to digital teaching and learning modalities. This phenomenon was essential to mitigate the contagion; however, the academic institutions needed to quickly come up with ways to ensure that the quality and rigor of education were maintained, especially the active and experiential learning required by undergraduate and graduate courses in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). This paper highlights key approaches reported or proposed to effectively conduct college-level, in-person STEM courses online owing to the pandemic. These would range from synchronous versus asynchronous pedagogies …

The central theme emerged the internet monitoring strategies: regulation, guidance, trust-space, …

Learning Analytics To Support Experiential Learning, Nikki James May 2021

Learning Analytics To Support Experiential Learning, Nikki James

Experiential Learning & Teaching in Higher Education

Experiential learning is increasing in prominence within higher education institutions. There is a lack of technology explicitly designed to support experiential learning pedagogies. This paper presents research that brings together learning analytics and learning theory to explore how technology could better support experiential learning programs. The research outcomes will be followed by a reflexive discussion about how insights from the research could impact the practice of experiential learning.

Youtube For Transcribing And Google Drive For Collaborative Coding: Cost-Effective Tools For Collecting And Analyzing Interview Data, Tim Hopper, Hong Fu, Kathy Sanford, Thiago Hinkel

The Qualitative Report

Cloud-based tools are increasingly used in research processes. In this paper, we illustrate the practice of one research team making use of multiple cloud-based applications in preparing, analyzing, and sharing research data, as well as in collaborative writing and display of results. Important research ethics considerations are also explored as a foundation for this practice. We believe that our detailed description of the steps involved can be of help to researchers, particularly novice researchers who may lack research funds to have qualitative interviews transcribed. This mashed-up use of free cloud-based software makes data preparation from qualitative interviews cost-effective, more efficient, …

Enterprise Social Network Systems Implementation Model For Knowledge Sharing Among Supply Chain It Professionals, Edgardo Luis Velez-Mandes Jan 2021

Enterprise Social Network Systems Implementation Model For Knowledge Sharing Among Supply Chain It Professionals, Edgardo Luis Velez-Mandes

CCE Theses and Dissertations

With the increased use of social network technologies in organizational environments, there is a need to understand how these technologies facilitate organizational knowledge management, particularly knowledge sharing. Prior research has focused on the relationship between knowledge management and enterprise social networking systems (ESNS), but little research has been conducted relating to how organizations implement and use ESNS for knowledge sharing. The goal was to construct and validate internally a model that offers guidance for the successful implementation and use of ESNS for knowledge sharing and building successful virtual communities of practice (vCoPs) among IT supply chain professionals in a healthcare …

Investigating The User Experience With A 3d Virtual Anatomy Application, Winnyanne Kunkle Jan 2021

Investigating The User Experience With A 3d Virtual Anatomy Application, Winnyanne Kunkle

CCE Theses and Dissertations

Decreasing hours dedicated to teaching anatomy courses and declining use of human cadavers have spurred the need for innovative solutions in teaching anatomy in medical schools. Advancements in virtual reality (VR), 3D visualizations, computer graphics, and medical graphic images have enabled the development of highly interactive 3D virtual applications. Over recent years, variations of interactive systems on computer-mediated environments have been used as supplementary resource for learners. However, despite the growing sophistication of these resources for learning anatomy, studies show that students predominantly prefer traditional methods of learning and hands-on cadaver-based learning over computer-mediated platforms.

There is limited research on …
