Covid Closing Down Colleges: How The Covid-19 Pandemic Accelerated Nonprofit College Closings, Patrick Baker, Paula Hearn Moore, Kaleb Byars, Christie Aden

Private nonprofit colleges have experienced an increasing amount of financial pressure over time, making it arduous to survive. Internal and external factors such as geographical challenges, lack of economies of scale, and unchecked board mismanagement have historically led to the closures. COVID-19 is accelerating the rate of these college closures. Diminishing enrollment, volatile endowments, and inoperable revenue programs are some of the reverberations the virus has caused.

Preventative measures need to exist to alleviate the risks of unforeseen crises in the future. Harsher penalties, increased scrutiny of automatic extensions, and more accurate and complete Form 990 disclosures will protect stakeholders …

The time in college is a time to prepare to go out into the world and be a contributing member of society. Typically, a college education should take four years to complete. Many colleges are eliminating the physical activity requirement for graduation, hoping that it will aid the student in graduating in a timely manner. Yet, students still take physical activity classes while working towards graduation. For this study, 420 college students (235 males & 185 females) participated in this study. A Qualitative Analysis Of High School Students' Experiences In The Latinos In Action Program, Johann Paul Simonds

This research was a qualitative program evaluation of students' perceptions of Latinos in Action (LIA), a peer-mentoring program that seeks to improve high school Latino graduation rates and college admittance. The study was conducted with college students who participated in the program in high school. LIA graduates were interviewed to determine what major factors influenced and supported them in their academic decisions. Additional data included an interview with the program director, results from the High School Survey of Student Engagement (HSSSE), and a video of one of the interviewees. Many college students and their families are concerned about the high costs of textbooks. E–books have been proposed as one potential solution; open source textbooks have also been explored. A company called Flat World Knowledge produces and gives away open source textbooks in a way they believe to be financially sustainable. This article reports an initial study of the financial sustainability of the Flat World Knowledge open source textbook model.

This research project examined the longitudinal course of body dissatisfaction among undergraduate females at Brigham Young University (BYU) using the Body Satisfaction Questionnaire (BSQ).The research also examined what percentage of undergraduate females have BSQ ratings in the clinically significant range and whether body dissatisfaction ratings varied based on the environment in which the student lived. Results indicate that no significant change in body dissatisfaction occurred over time, nor did living environment appear to play a role in BSQ scores. Results also showed that at any given time over 34% of women on BYU campus have BSQ scores in the clinically …

The purpose of the study was to attempt to understand why Brigham Young University Technology Teacher Education program has attracted and retained a high number of females. This was done through a self-created survey composed of four forced responses, distributed among the Winter 2006 semester students. Likert-scale questions were outlined according to the five theoretical influences on women in technology, as established by Welty and Puck (2001) and two of the three relationships of academia, as established by Haynie III (1999), as well as three free response questions regarding retention and attraction within the major.
