Empirical studies suggest a link between parental involvement and their child’s motivation in elementary, middle and high school. Considering the large body of research on this topic in younger age groups, my project focuses on whether parental factors still influence students’ academic motivation in college. Students from various majors, attending a university in the northwestern region of the United States, completed a questionnaire concerning their parents’ level of involvement during their middle and high school years, as well as during their college education. The focus of the initial study was the quantity of multicultural literature available in elementary schools; the focus of the current study is the selection process of the literature. The purpose of this study is to conduct an analysis of the availability of quality multicultural children’s literature in Treasure Valley elementary schools in Idaho. Current research suggests multicultural literature supports the psychosocial well-being of students in all classrooms. Exposure to a variety of cultures increases awareness and acceptance among students. In addition, reading multicultural literature encourages children to reaffirm the values of their own culture and come to appreciate those of others. The purpose of this study is to ask whether graduate students who have finished their undergraduate study at Boise State University (BSU) feel they were adequately prepared to meet research writing challenges at the graduate level. Professors have also raised questions about the level of preparedness incoming graduate students should have. Compared to the general college population, students with attention deficit disorder (ADD) are less academically prepared with the skills to maintain college course requirements. This inadequacy is due to the change in academic structure, time management, and the skills required for higher education. I measured career-decision self-efficacy to assess college students’ abilities to accomplish tasks necessary to making career decisions, and a relationship emerged between students that self-reported increased symptoms of ADD and a decrease in career decision selfefficacy. This study analyzes the role that children’s literature plays in acquiring critical tools and deconstructing the internalized sense of worthlessness and oppression that Latinos living in poverty might experience. This research project collects demographic, fiscal, and assessment data from Idaho school districts that have a high school and that report senior ACT scores. Analysis of the data indicates statewide correlations between local economic revenue indicators (local revenue per student, household median income, and percentage of local funding per student) and Idaho high school graduating seniors’ composite ACT scores. This research project indicates: (1) A strong relationship between Idaho school districts’ local revenues and their seniors composite ACT scores; (2) A strong relationship between Idaho high schools amount of local revenue per student and minimal ACT benchmarks not met by …
