All school districts, regardless of geography or demographics, are faced with the need to adapt education to meet the needs of the rapidly-changing global economy. In order to fully understand such challenges and needs, schools must focus on defining an overall vision of college-and career-readiness. This session discussed the different aspects of building a college and career ready culture in your school and district. This Power Point presentation accompanied the breakout session by the same title at the 2012 OCAN Conference.

School counselors are faced with limited time in their work day to focus on the multiple aspects of academic, career, and personal/social development of their students. Career development is likely to fall last due to the pressing needs of academic and personal/social development. This session will review trends in career advising that school counselors and other college access and success professionals might find useful as they work with students in approaching all three of these important counseling tiers.This Power Point presentation accompanied the breakout session by the same title at the 2012 OCAN Conference.
