It will also consider the social, cultural, and economic context surrounding the education of young children (birth to 8 years) with a wide range of developmental delays and disability conditions. Pertinent legislation, intervention with families, developing Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs), Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and issues of advocacy will be studied within the context of the continuum of service delivery (home-based, center-based, and school-based interventions). Research findings indicate that function-based behavior interventions lead to a decrease in challenging behaviors more often than interventions that are not function-based. Staff at a PK-2nd grade school in Eastern Iowa have shared that they are lacking confidence in these areas, including function-based intervention strategies, behavior assessments, and behavior plans, and would benefit from professional development on these topics. The purpose of this action research study was to determine if individualized instruction in the special education classroom positively correlates with vocabulary acquisition. This study focused exclusively on a middle school special education student diagnosed with autism and ADHD. The researcher utilized a pre-test to begin data collection prior to starting the unit. A post-test was given at the end of the unit to determine vocabulary acquisition. Data analysis revealed the student increased vocabulary over the course of the unit. Informal learning experiences can provide PK-12 students with the opportunity to enhance their learning of, attitudes toward, and interest in STEM. This study explored the impact of informal STEM learning experiences on Latinx high school students. Through an authentic STEM program, we investigated how students' science and engineering skills, practices, and knowledge were influenced, as well as their attitudes and interest in STEM. Additionally, we examined the transferability of their learning from informal to formal educational settings. This study focused on the Numeracy Intervention Project designed to detect gaps in student's mathematical learning. Research took place in the special education setting with one participant. Participants qualified by having an Individualized Education Plan with a goal specific to math instruction. The intervention took place over a two-week time period where the researcher and student met each day for thirty minutes. The Numeracy Intervention provided a scripted baseline assessment, hands on manipulatives, and several specific skill activities. Results from the baseline to post assessment showed no significant results. Study limitations and future research are included.

Self-efficacy plays an important role in academic performance and self-concept development. This action research investigates the effects of self-efficacy on self-assessment accuracy among engineering students during a 3D modeling unit. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, the study contains Likert scales to assess self-efficacy and quantitative methods to determine student's predicted and actual performance. Findings reveal that while self-efficacy improves over time, students become more likely to underestimate their abilities. The study suggests the need for a variety of feedback sources and highlights potential limitations in the tested self-assessment practices. This action research was driven by the researcher's interest in increasing students' math fact knowledge. The researcher implemented both an iPad and flash card intervention to determine and compare the effectiveness of each. Two-minute addition and subtraction probes were utilized as a pre and post-test to determine growth. A student survey was also given to determine students' interest in their respective intervention. The findings revealed that both interventions resulted in growth in both addition and subtraction facts, but there was no significant difference in growth between the two.
