Ed Roberts was a renowned activist considered to be one of the founding leaders of the American disability rights movement. Although he engaged in numerous political strategies, his main form of activism was teaching in his prolific public speaking career across the United States and around the world. The content and methods of his pedagogy were crafted from his own personal experiences as a disabled man. His teaching featured autobiographic selections from his own life in which he fought and defeated forces of oppression and discrimination. This paper charts some genealogies, challenges, and directions for experimenting with the utopic postdigital ecopedagogies demanded by our present (post)pandemic reality. These are messianic—rather than prophetic—utopias that exist not as proclamations or programmes for a distant future but as potentialities immanent in the irreducible excess of the present. While their roots most clearly emanate from the Freirean-inspired ecopedagogy movement, we conceptualize ecopedagogies instead as educational forms that emerge from, negotiate, debate, produce, resist, and/or overcome the shifting and expansive postdigital ecosystems from and to which we write and think. The purpose of the study is to evaluate library schools’ curricula in Nigeria with the aim of identifying a practical course on computer literacy to solve the problem of lack of ICT staff as noted by several studies conducted on the African continent. The study covered 30 universities offering Library and Information Science. The main instrument for data collection was analysis of departmental documents containing the LIS curriculum. Some library and information science educators and students were also interviewed on the availability of computer laboratories in the LIS department for students to acquire computer skills.
