"Research Tools": Tools For Supporting Research And Publications, Nader Ale Ebrahim
Nader Ale Ebrahim
“Research Tools” can be defined as vehicles that broadly facilitate research and related activities. “Research Tools” enable researchers to collect, organize, analyze, visualize and publicized research outputs. Dr. Nader has collected over 700 tools that enable students to follow the correct path in research and to ultimately produce high-quality research outputs with more accuracy and efficiency. It is assembled as an interactive Web-based mind map, titled “Research Tools”, which is updated periodically. “Research Tools” consists of a hierarchical set of nodes. It has four main nodes: (1) Searching the literature, (2) Writing a paper, (3) Targeting suitable journals, and (4) …

The report concludes with suggestions for future research. Much of the current research details the successes of high school graduates in attending and completing post-secondary education, but there exists a need for longitudinal studies tracking students from an early age, through their elementary, middle and high school experience, and on to their college attendance and careers. In comparing schools that have implemented strides toward College-Prep-For-All policies versus those that remain status quo, what possible differences develop for students and the local economy? Furthermore, how can the North Bay glean aspects of successful college- and career-ready programs for their schools? The …

The New Australian Curriculum, Teachers And Change Fatigue, Jessica Dilkes, Christine Cunningham, Jan Gray
Dr. Christine Cunningham
A new national curriculum has recently been implemented across Australia. This paper reports on a case study of a regional Western Australia government school as they re-wrote and taught the phase one learning areas: maths, English, science and HASS. Results showed what it is like to work in an environment where continual change is not only expected, but also seen as best practice. Cynical, realistic and even enthusiastic teachers suffer change fatigue after years of rapid and continual curriculum change. The research traces back the reasons why teacher change fatigue might occur using Intuitive Inquiry (Anderson & Braud, 2011) as …

A Basic Qualitative Research Study Using A Constructivist Lens: Using Technologies To Infuse The Art Museum Into A High School Visual Arts Curriculum, Laura R. James Ms.
Laura R James
While attending a district professional development seminar, I became shockingly aware of the lack of technology teachers were using in their classrooms. I decided to set up virtual visits to museums to allow high school students to look at and talk about art as if they were on a field trip. As an art teacher, I am faced with a limited budget to support my art curriculum, and field trips have never really been an option. Art museums have proven to be a valuable resource for art education curriculum. I started to research literature to find studies in which others …

Aesthetics In Culture, Dan Rager
Aesthetics In Culture, Dan Rager
Dan Rager
This article examines the role of aesthetics in art, music, non-art objects, and activities in daily life. It shows that recognition is vital to our understanding of art and art-objects and sometimes creates conflicts which ask, what does one do with art? The question becomes more confusing when we think about non-art objects and activities which concern our everyday experiences from eating, clothing, cleaning and dealing with life's natural elements. The author points out that Western cultures have a distinct artworld that is usually limited for special occasions set aside for that purpose. He suggests that aesthetics in culture is …
The Interpretation Of Sousa, Daniel Rager
The Interpretation Of Sousa, Daniel Rager
Dan Rager
This article creates a recording anthology from four of John P. Sousa's finest marches and includes "The Washington Post," "The Fairest of the Fair," "Hands Across the Sea," and "The Thunder." The titles were chosen because of their popularity as being the most recorded marches, and that they all have a common thread between them. Together, they create a unique collage of themes that when put together take on a new life. The author shows how all four compositions were assembled into a symphony titled Symphony on the Themes of Sousa written by Hollywood composer Ira Hearshen. Frederick Fennell recorded …

This model utilizes the expertise of an elementary math, intermediate language arts, and secondary science teacher in the formation of a resource team of professional developers. As teachers on special assignment, there source team works closely with key administrative personnel in areas of curriculum, parental involvement, staff development, and overall student achievement. This paper shares the results of the initial phase of this new model of professional staff development in the …
Redesigning The Secondary–Tertiary Interface: Queensland Review Of Senior Assessment And Tertiary Entrance, Gabrielle Matters, Geoff N. Masters
Redesigning The Secondary–Tertiary Interface: Queensland Review Of Senior Assessment And Tertiary Entrance, Gabrielle Matters, Geoff N. Masters
Prof Geoff Masters AO
A general conclusion of this Review is that senior secondary assessment and tertiary entrance in Queensland are in need of attention. It is more than twenty years since the current OP system was designed, and the broad features of the senior assessment system have been in place even longer. Over the past two decades, assessment and tertiary entrance processes have been the subject of ongoing modifications. Although the current processes have served Queensland well, we believe that they will be less adequate in meeting future needs and that the time has come for a redesign. Any redesign must recognise and …
Student-Centered Transformative Learning In Leadership Education: An Examination Of The Teaching And Learning Process, Paige Haber-Curran, Daniel Tillapaugh
Student-Centered Transformative Learning In Leadership Education: An Examination Of The Teaching And Learning Process, Paige Haber-Curran, Daniel Tillapaugh
Daniel Tillapaugh
Innovative and learner-centered approaches to teaching and learning are vital for the applied field of leadership education, yet little research exists on such pedagogical approaches within the field. Using a phenomenological approach in analyzing 26 students’ reflective narratives, the authors explore students’ experiences of and process of learning within a student-centered and inquiry-focused leadership capstone course. The process of this transformative learning experience is represented in five themes, which include the following: (1) challenging mental models of learning, (2) building trust, (3) finding freedom and empowerment, (4) deepening commitment to learning, and (5) reframing learning and self. Additionally, the students’ …

How Do School Leaders Navigate Ict Educational Reform? Policy Learning Narratives From A Singapore Context, Vicente C. Reyes Jr
How Do School Leaders Navigate Ict Educational Reform? Policy Learning Narratives From A Singapore Context, Vicente C. Reyes Jr
Dr. Vicente C Reyes Jr
The purpose of this research inquiry focuses on how school leaders ‘make sense’ of educational reform in their local contexts. In order to do this, an exploratory qualitative case study of two schools that took part in policy reform initiatives directed at ubiquitous use of information communication and technology (ICT) in the Singapore city–state context is undertaken. Using focus group discussions (FGDs), interviews and observations this inquiry investigates and builds emerging explanations to sense-making experiences of actors in the midst of reforms. Using Bruner’s narrative analysis, findings from this inquiry provide a picture of how school leaders cope in periods …
